The Canadian Statesman, Bowmanville, oM be 1 99 i le Travelways Extends itsBus Service to Pontypool Area -With First iRun on Thursday Bus Service Extended te Pontypool For many years a weekly bus service has been operated between Bethany and Peter- ,borough by Travelways. This service, which leaves Bethany every Thursday morning,, has proved to be a great convenience to residents of the area. The service is scheduled to provide adequate time ini Peterborough for shopping, medical appoint- ments and vîsiting frîends. Many residents look ferward to this Weekly excursion. Manvers Township Council have received a request from a group of residents in the Pontypool area te extend. this weekly bus service te include their area. Following discus- siens between the Council and Travelways, it h as been decided to introduce this service, on an experimental basis, in the Pentypool portion of the Township. This will be accomplished by extending the existing service from Bethany te Pontypool. The service between Ponty- pool and Peterborough will operate on Thursday each week and will commence this week on Thursday, November 22nd. Initially the service will be operated on a temporary basis until January 31, 1980. If sufficient interest bas been indicated by residents of the Pontypool area, through their use o f he service, it will be extended beyond the end of January. Mr. Ralph Geer, the Area Manager for Travelways, explained that in order to maintian a local transporta- tien service of this nature, a sufficient number of persons must utilize the service te justify its operating cost. "If the residents of the Pontypool area use the service, we will continue te previde a bus" he stated. Commencing on Thursday, the service will start at the intersection of Highway 35 and 4th' Une Road, north of Pontypool, at 9:40 a.m. It wil ,,,,MARIANN A DVEIOPMENTSu proudly presents OSHAWA A secluded communhty of executive homes with 7 models to choose f rom priced f rom $775900 to 1949900. I hope you wili please print this for me, since 1 tee have a handicapped child and aise got a couple of letters in my mail telling me te put my child away in an institution. 1 aise get soide remarks made at me and my child, plus 1 aise received several phone calis. 1 finally had te have my number unlisted te stop it. I am really ashamed of myseif for letting these people get away with it. My letters I ceuldn't tear up fast enough. 1 found I started staying in the house more and since my child is quite young, 1 aise kept him in more. I tried to tell myself that I was protecting my child, but the real truth is 1 was afraîd te face these people and after a while aise others, plus I now realize I stili hadn't accepted my son's condition. Thanks te Mrs. Lawrence I now have taken the first step in getting help for myself and in making my child feel the human that hie is. I weuld like te tell anonymous citizens that 1 know that their group consists of only three and that since they know that I know wbo they are that if they dareý te cause any more trouble whatsoever, I1îl go te the proper authorýIiis about themri That's right, P'm net scared and hiding anymere. One other thing I wish to say is, 1 have seen Mrs. Lawrence and ber child eut. Se, I feel sure in thinking it is the same s0 called citizens that, have bothered us both. Yeu see even though we den't know each other, I only live a few blocks from bher. I only pray that some day 1 can look everybody in the eye and be as proud and worthy of my child like Mrs. Lawrence. Thank you Mrs. Lawrence for doing something I was scared te do and for making me see what 1I was doing te myseif and cbild.
