Women's Institute Activities Two carloads of ladies from Nestleton attended the Summary Day for "Indoor Gardening" held at Orono on Tues., Dec. 11th. Eleven ladies completed this Women's Institute Course and seven ladies attended Summary Day. The various exhibits of macrame items, terrariums, dish gardens, all tastefully displayed were a joy to behold. Indoor Gardening slides were shown and tea and cookies enjoyed by the many W.I. members and visitors present. Irene Train who was ill. The roll call of Officers was taken. There were 11 members present. Secretary Carol Doyle read the minutes of the last meeting which were approved. The communications were read, and it was moved by Marg. Lee that they be brought up under the proper order of business. Treasurer Marg. Lee reported that the organization as a very substantial bank balance. The annual Bazaar and Christmas Tea was a real success. Marg, Jones moved that all outstand- ing bills be paid. The Bazaar held on Nov. 28th was discussed in detail and by all reports members were pleased with results. Marg. Lee moved that each one bring an item per month for the penny sale of $1.00 value. Court Lady Snowbird will be meeting on Tuesday, Dec. lth at 9:00 p.m. at Carol Mairs to make up the Christmas Fruit Baskets. Anne Lee to order the fruit and other goodies from the IGA store. A decision was made to cater to a wedding on May 3, 1980, at the Nestleton Community Centre. The meeting closed and a Christmas party followed with the exchange of gifts re last years mystery Sister. A draw was then made for next year's mystery sister. Gifts were given out for all the children under 12 years old, to be taken home and put under the Christmas Tree. Next regular meeting Jan. 7th, 1980, at Helen Robinson's home. Birthday Celebrated Karen Doyle of Nestleton, was treated for supper at Mother's Pizza in Oshawa by her Mom and Dad and sister Tracy on the occasion of her 7th birthday,,Dec. 13th. After supper they visited Santa Claus and had their pictures taken. A belated "Happy Birthday" is wished to Karen. Caesarea Euchre High scores for Wednesday evening card party were: lst - Pearl Day with a 94. 2nd - Sandy Day, 3rd - John Skinner. The Caesarea Euchre Club will commence this Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. with a pot-luck supper - before the euchre. All are welcome - bring along your casserole or whatever you wish to make and have an enjoyable evening with friends within the community. Although the weatherman failed to co-operate the Musical held on Sunday after- noon, Dec. 9th, was a real treat. Ron Hewitt, a fine performer, played the electric organ and sang many favorite numbers much to the enjoy- ment of those present. A sincere thank you to Ron from the Ladies Auxiliary. Refresh- ments were served after the program. Nestleton United Church A very good attendance at the Service on Sunday, December 16th. Organ music by Mrs. L. Malcolm was enjoyed as the congregation assembled. Rev. Victor Parsons used as his sermon topic: "The Night Watch- men". Scripture taken from Ephesians: 1: 3-10 and Luke 2: 8-20. In the choir a harmonious duet was rendered by Misses Gail and Laurie Malcolm. Offering was taken by Mr. Norman Mairs and Mr. Ralph Sadler. Nestleton Sunday School Program will be held this coming Sunday, December 23rd at 7:30 p.m. in the church Sunday School room. Refresh- ments will be served by the U.C.W. after the program. Christmas Eve Service will be held December 24, at 7:30 p.m. in Blackstock United Church. Many from Nestleton are planning to attend. Family News of Interest An enjoyable pre-Christmas party was "hosted" by Bill and Mildred Fortune when the following family members were present over the past weekend: Mr. and Mrs. Philip Langfeld, Willowdale, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Abbott and John, Brampton, Mr. and Mrs. Terry McElwain, Robert and Scott of Gelert, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Welk, Suzanne and Lori, Eganville, and Virginia Fortune of Toronto. Weekend visitors with Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Point were Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cawker, Scarborough, and Professor Kenneth Cawker of London, Ontario, Mr. and Mrs. Alan Cawker and Christie of Oshawa. Christie was celebrating her 13th birthday. To all those in hospital from the area, we extend "Warmest Christmas Wishes" for better health soon. Glad to hear that Mr. George Bowers is doing well and is finished with therapy. Sincere sympathy to our neighboring family, Murray Malcolm and four daughters in the loss of a devoted wife and mother, Joyce Malcolm who passed away Tuesçlay, December lth. Presbyterian Ladies Aid The members of Nestleton Ladies Aid met for their Christmas meeting in the Presbyterian Church Hall on Thursday afternoon. Pres. Mrs. H. Lee welcomed all and the meeting opened with "O Little Town of Bethlehem" and the Lord's Prayer. Mrs. G. Heaslip in charge of the Devotional read a splendid article on Love as prepared for the Family Worship period. Miss Ruth Proutt, Sec'y Treas. read the minutes, gave the financial report and read several letters of appeal for funds. A hamper of a Christmas dinner will be given to a family in need and two plants for shut-ins. Baskets of fruit will be sent to four Presbyterian members over the holiday. Cards were signed for absent members and friends. A donation of $2500 was made to Fernie House in memory of Mrs. Fernie to be used for tools in their new workshop.) The roll call was answered by 13 members telling of Good Deeds during the past month. Progran - Christmas readings by Mrs. H. McLaughlin and Miss Gillson. The hymn Holy Night and the Mizpah Benediction closed this part of the meeting. The hostesses Mrs. W. McGill and Mrs. G. Heaslip served a delightful Christmas lunch and all enjoyed the social hour. Mrs. G. Thompson extended thanks to all who assisted with the pleasant meeting and best wishes were exchanged for a blessed Christmas season.
