By Don Wilcox The Bowmanville Cowan Pontiac - Buick Junior Cs won both halves of a double header series against the Port Perry MoJacks by a 10 to 2 count in Port Perry Saturday night and a 5 to 2 count Sunday night in the Eagles' nest. The Eagles have added another player to their roster, Gerard Morrison, who came up through the local minor ranks excelling each year he played. Morrison will add a new dimension to the Eagle defence with his style of play. Eagles also have another new player in the lineup, Jamie Eyman, who knows his way around the league having played with Port Hope and Port Perry. Eyman bas a great pair of wheels. The Eagles came to play in Port Perry Saturday night as proven by the scoreboard. MoJack on the other hand came to use the stick for anything but playing the puck which provided the fans with a penalty filled game. Eagles who can also play it both ways were assessed their share of the penalties. Randy MacDonald repeatedly broke up the MoJacks' attack with his tireless skating on the penalty kill. Tim Vanstone in the Eagle net turned in another steady performance, improving his goals against average. MoJacks' Phil Cochrane who set a new record of seven goals saved in a single game last week agains Port Hope was held to a single point. Last Tuesday night in Brooklin, the Toros were held to a 3 - 3 tie by a vastly-improved Whitby- Brooklin squad. There was no scoring until the second period when Bowmanville's Jon Clieff blasted one from his position on the point, catching the top corner of the net. The assist went to his defence partner Pierre St. Amand. Lorne Whitmarsh scored the next goal, assisted by Tom McLaughlin and Chris Dreossi. Bowmanville's last goal was scored by Chris Lee, the assists going to his linemates Brad Cruess and Brian Heard. The third period belonged to the home squad as they took control of the game. The Toros felt they had the game won and stopped back- checking, allowing the Whitby-Brooklin shooters to free-wheel in the Bowmanville zone. Alan Ulrich was in goal and allowed the three goals, but had it not been for sorne fantastic saves, the score would have been much higher. Peterborough opened the scor- ing with their only goal of the game at 1:01 of the first period. Bowmanville evened the score at the 3:05 mark of the first period on a goal by Brad Carnegie with the assists going to Jason Hellam and Brad Rushak. Things became very tense as John Begg was assessed two consecutive penalties and D & R had to play short handed for almost four minutes. They certainly rose to the occasion and kept Peterborough at bay and the score tied at one. Determination and great team play paid off for Bowmanville at the 5:28 mark of the third period when Brad Carnegie notched his second goal of the game.
