Sofball 'Win by Doug Martin' Last Thursday afternoom at, Or- ono Park, the Orono High Schoul boys' softball team played host to~ their friendiy rivais from Biack- stocks Cartwright High Sehool. The weather was perfect for base- bal, with clear skies and a warmFL day. The Orono boys came out on top~ 16-3, but the score w7as not typicai of the play, as the O.H.S. teami wa4o aided by some luck and poor f ield- ing on the part of the Blackstock team. Nevertheless, the Orono team dihd' play some good basebali led by the~ exceptiorial fielding of Everett Lake~ at third, Pete IMaartense a first, ndDon Danchuk in centre f ield. These three players also had somýe timely hIts along wvith AMdy Svtch and Gary -McMackin. The Blackstock teami was led by the speedl-bali pitching of Clem WNil- soGn, who also -contributed somne good hits for the visitors. Although the Blackstock pftcher had good -speedc, he lacked control, walking a* number of Oronoý Players-, - whlch produced some importanit runs lor- the home team.- On the whole it-was an entertain- ing bail game, capabiy. umpired b,- Mr. Rutherford behind the plate and Eric C-'areton on the base lines.
