The western wall will be built out 307 feet. In a news tory of two years ago, Mr. Fenneli told a reporter he hoped to estabiish a leisure oriented community there. First step, and it now seems to be in the, process of being taken, was to be construction of a marina and boatel.' At that time, he talked of establishing a Newcastle yacht club and now observers are wondering if a Toronto- basedl club could be coming to Newcastle. Such a move, tbey reason wouid prompt the government to spend ail this money on a littie used facility. Village council met with Wilf. Shaw, president of *Square 100, a Mississauga- based development company on a proposai that company has for 90 acres on the west side of the harbour. Inside the harbor basin, a back-hoe mounted on top of a work barge, bas started to dîg the mud out of the bottomn of the lagoon, a first step in deepening it to accommodate larger boats, Village officiais believe it is working for the harbor owners. Other machines are parked on the west shore and may be in readiness for work on building the marina and boatel. Two breakwaters will be built to sheiter the mouth of a new marina at Newcastle, Ont. under a $176,200 contract aiwarded to, Canadian Dredge and Dock Company Ltd. of Toronto, Public Works Minist- er J.E. Dube announced recently. The successful firmn submnit- ted the iowest of three tenders. The high bid was $276,470. In accordance with the government's marina poiicy the department is construct- ing two breakwaters at the mouth of Graham Creek. Dimensions of the rubhle mound and steel sheet piling structures wiil be 475 feet on the east side and 307 feet on the west side of the entrance to the marina. Estimated time of completion is three months from the award of the contract -Plans and specifications were prepared by the Ontario Region of the federal Depart- ment of Public Works. Project manager is A. MacKay of the department's toronto office. BEEF CATTLE, (Continiued-from pagelt-) ,Shorthorns Bull May 1 (1972) Dec. 31, 1972. list John Rickard, Newcastle 2nd A.J.
