Miss Marilyn Ham wi, Winnipeg, spent the Easter holiday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Don Hamm. KENDAL The week of April lSth was perfect with sunny skies and fine weather. Last weekend also weas ideal but such conditions cause a certain fire hazard. On Suinday affernoon the Hendersons were burning some rubbish when the fire got away from them, burning the dry grass in Lowery's field and running across the field's to Cathcart's farm. Fortunately the Orono Fire Brigade and some twenty mven were able to bring it to a halt. Some Kendal ladies made m-aple syrup. IIîey report a good flow of sap this year and this writer has sampled the quality and th'at is excellent. Thiere ~was a good attend- ance at chiurch on Sunday and a full choir. They sang, "WIhen, the roll is called up yonder." Mlr. Morris Bradley read the scripture John :3 v. 1-17 and chose as his subject "The greatest is love." One of the questions hie asked, was "What does God think of man's great waste of his universe, especially the ato- niic testini g grounds in the south seas where nothing will grow on these islands for at least one hundred years, and millions of fish were destroy- ed?" Next Sunday mr. D. Dale of Oshawa will take the service. After the service at 12:30 a social hour will be enjoyed in Kendal church wheni we wîll, talk to these four men Mr. and MI. Marvin, Mr. R. His, Mr. D. Dale and Mr. M. Bradley. ,who have served the Newton- ville charge so devotedly for the past four months. The flowers in the church on Sunday were 'in memnory of IMrs. Trim Sr. of Shiloh and of Mrs. Ethel Geary of this village. Mrs. Geary was born in 1904. She and George were twin children of Mr. and Mrs. George Pope. George Pope her brother passed away in September 1969. The family moved tW Kendal in 1912 and bought the farm now owned -by Mr. P. Newell. Mrs. Geary has been in a rest home in Toronto recently because of iii health. Friends attended her funeral in the Lang Memorial Chapel in Orono on Monday, April 15th. 'Congratulations to Mrs. Mildred Falls who will cele- brate her ninetieth birthday on April 25th. The family will have a birthday dinner. -On Friday night of this week. the Doubles Club will hold their organization, meeting in the Kendal Sunday School room. Mr. M. Bradley would like to see a good number from Kendal, Shiloh and Newtonville attend this meet- ing in Kendal church. On Saturday night of this week the Kendal Women's Instîtute wvill hold their annual Penny Sale in the Kendal Public Schooi commencing at 8 p.m. Many valuable articles will be displayed in the school on Saturday afternoon April 27th.
