The Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority is Rangers Undertëiking the redecorating* and renovations including painting both' inside and outside of the dining and kitchen areas as well as. the aormitories and some minor interior structural change. The Ministry has provided cots, dressers and mattresses for thirty as well as providing kitchen utensils, dishes, comi- mercial stove, freezer,' grill and refrigerator for use at the camp. Total cost of this equipment is expected to reach close to $20,000.00. The province must also encourage urban develop- ment on poor agricultural lands but this should not be used as a qualification for the development. The green paper outlines an approach for municipalities to use when preparing its official plan on agricultural policies. E lectrica I Demand Increases The province's electrical energy demand rose to 7,263,- 666,000 kilowatt-hours during April, 3.1 per cent greater than the corresponding total for April, 1976. Primary peak demand rea- ched 13,615,000 kilowatts at 5.15 p.m., Monday, April 4. Almost 39 per cent of energy generated and pur- chased during, the month camne fromn water-powered stations. Nuclear power pro- vided 23.6 per cent, coal, 18.4 per cent, natural gas, 2.5 per cent, oil, .7 per cent, and purchases, the remainder. complex. A programn for educational purpose is now being prepare d by staff under the direction of camp co-ord- inator, Mliss Kelly Ballentyne. Contact is being made f0 the individual schools for use of the camp as a residential outdoor education centre. t is expected that the first class could make use of the camp in late September or early 0Oc tober. By September 1of 1978 the full week by week program is hoped to be underway. The Authority has noted an increased week-end use of the camp by various outdoor and scout and girl guide groups. The Authority has received a report from the co-ordinator relating fo the next ten years program at the camp touch- ing on new buildings as well as educational, recreation and information aspects of a program. The next full board meeting of the Authority is to be held at the camp on June l6th.
