Jack Dicker, manager of electrical inspection, warns that air conditioners should be installed and operated according to instructions. A number of complaints have been received and, in past years, a number of fires have occured in various. parts of the province. He says, "The most com- mon cause is using overload- ed extension cords and plug- ging them into unsitable receptacles." Each air conditioning unit should have a separate circuit capable of carrying 15 amrp- enes. Placement of extension cords is important, too. Avoid keeping them beneath rugs or chestenfields where any flaw would be hîdden. Receptables should also be checked to make sure they are appropriate for the type of wring in the house.
