4-Orono WeeklY Times, Wednesday, Februar'y lst, 1978 SPORTS- O.M..A.Bantams The O.M.H.A. Bantams journeyed to Bowmanviiie on Saturday night to play an exhibition game with their Bantam No. 2 team. The first period saw them go ahead with one goal. Orono came on strong in the second period with three goals. Paul Reed tipped in the first goal, passed along by Peter Kruhked andRobbie Taîsma. Kirk Carr got the second and Jim Moffatt blasted in the third from the point. Terry Hedges hustled in from the point to lif t one over the goalie to open the scoring in the third with Bowmanville adding one more to end the game Orono 4, Bowmanville 2. On Monday night at the Darlington Sports Centre, the Pickering Village Bantams were in for an exhibition game. Duane Major opened the scorîng, and got the only first period goal on a super shot from the point, passed back by Paul Reed. Pickering got hot in the second period and slipped two past goalie- Dan Mitchell. Paul Reed got the equalizer, tipping in the puck after Alan Webster's drive. Then Jim Moffatt scoreci to end the second period. Orono added two more in the third to end the game Orono 5, Pickering 2. Ken Prescott connected from Pete Kruhkert and Paul King and Jim Moffatt got another on a power play goal with Paul Reed. Steve Stec put in a super effort on defence as well as Shayne Adams and Wayne Zoschke up front. Soccer The past few years has seen tremendous growth in soccer throughout Ontario. In this particular area, soccer has grown sufficiently to warrant the formation of the Bowman- ville Soccer Club. This club will be the backbone for the prom otion and encourage- ment of soccer development in the Newcastle area. In the coming season we will be entering two teams in the Oshawa District. This workshop will deal particularly with the spring muskrat harvest. t is hoped that this workshop will take place in the Orono area for the benefit of younger trappers in the Darlington, Clarke and Hope Areas. Twelve skaters will travel to Port Perry for the all day event.
