Kendal1 News "He who from zone to zone guides thy certain flight Will in the long road that I must tread alone Guide my steps aright." On Monday morning May 8th several large flocks of wild geese went north. This is much later than other years about three weeks later. Jack Miner always held open bouse the second week in April when he expected the geese to be resting and feeding on his pond. They would be gone by April 18th at least hie told us in 1929. Since that time their numbers have increased many times. We saw at least a couple of thousand go by tbis morning. The Canada goose would have been gone like the passenger pigeon if Jack Miner had not opened bis farm as a safe game preserve for them: The pas- senger pigeons were so num- erous they darkened the sky as they passed over. This writer's grandf ather fired one shotgun blast into a flock of passenger pigeons and so may were killed and wound- edtat they filled the wagon box. Only the breasts were eaten in pigeon pie.
