The Forresters wish to build the complex and have been in support of the rezoning along with the owner Mr. Swartz. The application has been opposed by the Union at Goodyear who feel that such development would give Goodyear an excuse to leave Bowmanville and fur- ther that no expansion plans could be undertaken. Council met recently with Goodyear officials in Toronto in connection with the matter. After a goodly number of months discussion on the matter finally came before council Monday for their decision. The rezoning appli- cation was voted down 4-1 by council since both Woodyard and Holliday bounded out of the meeting. Counc. Woodyard oli Tues- day said there appeared a serious legal bind in the handling of the issue and that he had called for a legal opinion on the position of council before the vote was taken. He said he wanted a ru]ling but as this was not to be he left the meeting as he did not wvant to be party to any action before legal advice_ was obtained. Counc. Jasper H olliday also lef t the meeting.ý Counc. Taylor was the only member to support the appli- cation.
