Kendal1 Do ail the good that you can By ail the means that you can In ail the ways that you can At ail times you can To ahl people you can As long as ever you can. John Wesley. On Sunday mornîng, June llth we were pleased to have our minister in his pulpît again after his illness. He thanked those who had assist- ed in his absence and said he had received twenty-seven cards one to represent each book of the New Testament. They said "We miss you". One had a Marine scene and referred to Jeremiah 6, verse 4. This tells that "the shadows of the evening are stretched out", but when the morning breaks those boats will put out to sea. People are reaching out to other people in love. One card had a Bible text, "Neyer fear for the Lord your God is with you and he will heal ah yvour diseases". He that healeth in the long ago has stili that same power. Then there was the recipe card: Add faith, hope, trust. The dlock said, "ten past twelve" on one card, then there was a rest period, and you're on your way again. Next Sunday, June l8th is the annual church parade of the Orangemnen from Kendal Lodge, No. 40j5. They will worship with us. The ladies of the U.C.W. will serve sandwiches and squares after the service. On Sunday afternoon some of us attended the Elizabeth- ville Sunday School Anniver- sary Service. This was an interesting event. Their sup- erintendant is Mrs. Morley McAllister and Mrs. E. Bur- ton the organist. Rev. W. Kennedy acted as chairman. The children sang several numbers. Mrs. Jean Kennedy told the childrens story and the Welcome Singers gave several numbers. A social time followed the service. The United Church Women met at the church kitchen on Thursday evening, dune 8th wîth mine members present and one visitor. The meeting opened with the sînging of "Trust and Obey". Miss C. Stewart read a prayer and the scripture. Then Mrs. M. Stevens opened her message with prayer and told of the coming of Christianity to hawaiî. Captain Cook set foot on Hawaii two hundred and fifty years ago so this event is being celebrated in various parts of the world thîs eyar. A young Hawaîîan lad wanted to sail with Captaîn Cook but he was flot taken because of his age. However he stowed away on the ship and was not found till they were far out to sea. Captain Cook was murdered on one of the Sandwich Islands but his shîps continued on. The Hawaiian lad eventually rea- ched New England and be- came a Christian. He longed to take the message to his homeland but took sick and died. However he had convin- ced some New England people of his desire to Christianize Hawaii so they sent missionaries to Hawaii.
