2-Orono Weekly Times, Wednesday. November 8th, 1978 Orono Weekly Times ELECTION IS DRAWING NEAR The campaign race for the various positions on council and to represent local citizens on the Board of Education is drawing near to a close. The vote will have been beld and the results known in less than a week. No one needs to be told of their duty as a resident of this area to be a voter but it can almost be anticipated that many will leave the selection of our new council and representatioi to the Board of Education to others. Lets flot forget however that every vote counts and that it is single votes that decide the election. To this point there has been some bard campaigming by a goocly number of the candidates and this augers well for the electorate. in order that they may assess the candidates in action. The electorate should look for leadership qualities, the ability to work witb others, the ability to speak and even debate, a common sense approach, a business sense in the matters of financing as well as viewing the future with solid policies and to view the Town of Newcastle as a single unit. There is also a need for a member of office to be able to say 'No' when the need arises. The decision is in your bands. make sure you use your vote on November 13th.
