Roots H-air Design move (o Orono Roots Hair Design, Bowmanville, have extended their service ta include a new beauty salon in Orono, Main Street, one door south of Beckers. Kim Pollard, hairstylist, who has worked for Roots in Bowmanville and previously in Toronto. is manager of the Orono location. The premises have been redecorated for Roots Hair Design for ladies and gents. ,Cialrke- Museum Rebeah'sgranted Christmas Party, Oni Tumesday evenîng Heather Rebekah Lodge held their annual Christmas Party. The Kirby Ladies served a delicîous turkey supper with about forty members present. Lodge opened according to the ritual with Sister Laverine Barrabail as Noble Grand and Sister Marion Adams as Vice Grand Preciding. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. The correspondence was read and filed. A committee was appointed for the supper ta be served the senior citizens on January 6. Sister Violet Sutcliffe and her committee will look after the senior citizens. The money for our foster child to be paid for another year with Sister Gansby to the cor- respondence. After closing Lodge the sisters and brothers returned- to the banquet hall where games and a sing song led by Sister Doreen Swan awaited the coming of Santa Claus who arrived in a wheel chair this year 'accompanied by Mrs. Santa. A delicious lunch was serv- ed by Sisters Gladys Gamsby and Alice Hooey. Hydro to hire 2900 by 1985 Emnployment is now ex- pected to peak at 2900 employees in 1985 at the Darlington Nuclear plant. Employment reached a peak of 1900 this year and is expected to iumber 220 in 1983. There are 1000 working on design and drafting at the present time. Canada World Youth CANADA WORLD YOUTËH launched its 1983 recruitment- campaign with the news that 800 young peo- ple would be participating in, this year'sý youth exchange programme. CWY, funded in part by the- Canadian International Development Agency and now in its I lth Consecutive year, is looking for workers and students between the ages of 17 and 20 who are in- terested in learning about development and cross - cultural communication in both Canada and a develop- ing country. 11 These young !Çanadians, joined by an equal inumber of exchange counýtry par- icipants, will spend 7 months living and working in vastly different cultures and comn- munities. Small teams of CWY participants, each a Canadian and Exchange country Group leader, in- tegrate themselves into comn- munitieý, first in Canada then overseas, through volunteer work 'in fields such as agriculture, -Co-operatives, environmen t/conservation, social services, smail businesses, recreation and Community groups. Ail costs during the pro- gramme - food, lodging and transportation are covered by CWY. CANADA WORLD YOUTH'S first programme starts in July, and the second programmie starts i n September. Deadline for receipt of applications for both programmes is Febrnjary 18, 1983.
