On November lst Commodores faced off against the Orono Tri-* County No. 1 team and came out on top with a 5-1 win. Commodore's Greg Hooper opcned the scoring on a pass from Chris Yeo late in the first period. Jay Hansen came back to tic the score at 1 for thc remainder of the first period. Then it was al Commodore, scoring 2 goals for each of the re- mnaining two priods. Goal scorers wcre: Chris Yeo from Shane Joncs; Jon Buttigieg from Neil Haines, Chris Yeo from Jean-Paul Tousignant; Greg Hooper from Cliris Yeo. The Commodores travelled to Little Britain for their se- cond gaine on Novemnber 3rd . The game remnained scoreless until the halfway mark of the first period when Chris Yeo opencd the scoring assisted by Greg Hooper. Orono in- crcased their lead to 4 before the end of the period on goals by Jean-Paul Tousingant unassisted; Jean-Paul Tous- ingant from Ryan Rock; Jason Mercer from Chris Simpson and Chris Yeo fromr Greg Hooper and Jason Mercer. The pace slowed somne in the second period with Orono scoring 2 goals, 1 by Ryan Rock unassistcd and thc other by Dan Walters fromn Chad Puk. Thc third period saw two more goals by Orono giving themn an 8-2 'win over Little Britain. Goal scorcrs werc Neil Haines from Jarrett Aus and Jason Mercer assisted by Chris Yeo and Jean-Paul Tousingant. On N4ovember th the Commodores had a rematch wth the Little Brtain tcam and again won the match handily at 7-1. The Orono team were held scoreless in the first period with the only goal going to Little Britain, however, they sure made up for it in the second periodfir- ing home 6 goals. Goal Scorers were: Jean-Paul Tousignant from Ryan Rock; Jon Buttigieg assisted by Dan Walters and Chad Puk; Dan Walters from Jon Buttigicg; Greg Hooper from Chris Yeo; and Greg Hooper from Chris Yeo again; Jean-Paul Tousignant from Ryan Rock and Neil Hains. Chad Puk scored the lone goal of the 3rd period assisted by Dan Walters. Orono OMHA Tennant Aton,, undefeated but die with Newcastle Orono OMHA Tennant Fuel Atoms remain undefeated in their league play after getting a win and a tie in games played last weekend. Friday November 8th saw the local boys defeat Manvers by a score of 6-2 in Manvers. Dustin Reid scored unassisted at 6:01 of the first period. Fourty-nine seconds later Dustin and Scott Williamis assisted on a goal by Tyler Adey. Cameron Esler scored fifteen seconds later to give Orono a quick 3-0 lead. Manvers notched a goal with 3:16 Ieft in the second period after having been foil- ed by the Orono defence of Jim Partner, Adam Stephen- son, Craig Nemis and Brad Minnis and goaltender Chad Vandam who is continuing his fine play. Dustin Reid scored his second unassisted goal with 2:44 left in the se- cond period but Manvers struggled back 32 seconds later with a goal to make the score-4-2. Dustin got his hat trick at 2:10 of the third period. With 4:50 Ieft to play Brent Gates scored assisted by Cameron Esler and Stephen Stadelman. Final score Orono 6 - Manvers 2. On Saturday Newcastle was in town to play the local boys. The game was a close match-up throughout al three periods with two goals by each team in the first and third period and no scoring in the second period. Jason Rogers scored first for Newcastle at 1:45 of the first period. Stephen Stademann tied the gaine at 3:15 assisted by Bradley Min- nis. Orono took the lead with 2:07 left on the dlock when Scott McAllister scored assisted by Tyler Adey and Scott Williams. Jason Rogers tied the game at 2-2 with Newcastle's second goal with 55 seconds left to play in the first period. There was no scoring in the second period despite threeý power play opportunities, two for Orono, 1 for Newcas- tle. In the third period Newcas- tle took the lead 3-2, on a goal by Derek Anderson at 2:45. Scott MeAllister tied the gamne up at 6:19 of the period assisted by Bradley Minnis. Orono took the lead 10 seconds later with only 3:31 left to play in the gamne when Sean McKenzie and Scott McAllister assisted on the goal scored by Trevor Lomax. Newcastle fought back and tied the gaine 4-4 when Chuck Carr scored fourty-two seconds later. Despite some fine efforts neither teain was able to break the tie. Final score Orono 4 - Newcastle 4. This was a usual slam bang affair bet- .wecn a bunch of boys who al know cach other and go to the sane school. When the gamne was on thcy took it real serous but when it was over they were ail friends and took to kidding ý ach other, which is the way hockey should be played. David Sheridan got the home tcamn started when he bail three successive shots on goal after a mail scramblc in front of the Newcastle net. Finally Dave managei to, slip it over the Newcastle goalie Chris Vanhaverbeke who played an excellent game. Tyler Gibson andl Jef Hartwig earned the assists on the play with their constant digging. Tyler Gibson uppcd the count to 2-0 whcn he sunk Jeff Ha rtwig's rebound at the 3:33 mark of the 2nd period. Newcastle made a reai con- test of it when they'opcned up the 3rd period with 2 goals of their own. Not to be denied Orono fought back to gain the leail when Todd Gray fired a hard wrist shot which caught the lower corner aftcr Matt Stevenson and David Sheridan set hum Up. Both teams bail great chances in the dying mo.ments but great goaltendîng hld the forte. Todd Gray salteil away the victory with just a 1:52 re- maining aftcr he bangetl in Matt Stcvcnson's rebounil. This was a real sce-saw bat- tic with Chris Vanhaverbeke of Newcastle and Billy Todd and Shawni Hardy of Orono playing 'harp between the pipes. Brent Osmond was a tower of strength on the Orono defense before injuring his ankle late in the game. BALTIMORE 3 - ORONO 2 The Matthews and Hill boys travclled to Baltimore on Friday evening and lost a close one 3-2. The Orono boys playcd well but just couldn't beat the sharp goaltending from the home squad. Baltimore drew first blood at the 7:33 mark with Orono tying it up just 55 seconds later. Brian Rodd strippcd the Baltimroe defenseman of the puck and wcnt in unmolested to beat the home teani goalie. Baltimore then notchcd a goal in the 2nd and one more the 3rd period to gain the ad- vantage 3-1. Orono put on tremendous pressure for the final 10 minutes with Matt Stevenson finally scoring -aUtir -Todd Gray and David Sheridan set him up with some sharp pass- ing. The Matthews and Hill boys had many chances to tic the match but Mike Taylor robbed thein blind to help his' team to victory.
