See king Iost tombstones in the area We are asking for help from anyone who knows of a cemetery that has been forgotten or abandon- ed, in somte case there are just 1,2 or more graves on an old farm or piece of property, where years ago a house once stood. We need to find these forgotten graves so that our> Branch can record them for future use by anyone seeking his or her family roots. The Whitby Oshawa Branch of the Ontario Geneological Society, has been transcribing ail the kniown cemeteries in the Durham Region for the past 7 years, it has been a very large undertaking,, and we shouild be finished this'year. Because we feel if a job is worth doing it is worth doing wll, we would like to find ail of these graves and graveyards that once were located on now abandoned proper- ties. The recordings when completed are held at the National Archives in Ottawa, The Ontario Archives and the Ontario Geneological Society Library, where they can been seen by anyone who is interested, there are also, copies of completed cemeteries placed in the Whitby Public Library, where the Whitby Oshawa Branch bas its Geneological Library.
