A gay person was the life of the party and nothing more, while Aids meant beauty lotions or help for so- meone in trouble. -We are today's Senior Citizens. It's called, ýis a Senior Citizen." s those folks about 30 may enjoy it. A Senior Citizen is one who was here before the pilI and the popula- tion explosion. We were here before television, penicillin and polio, shots, antibiotics and frishees; before frozen foods, nylon and' dacron, exerox, Kinsey, radar, fluoresce nt lights, credit cards and bail point pens. For us, time sharing meant togetherness, not computers and a chip meant a piece of wood. Hardward meant hard wear and soft ware wasn't even a word. Teenagers neyer wore slacks. We were before pantyhose and drip-dry clothes, before ice makers, dishwashers, clothes dryers and electric blankets. We were before men wore long hair and earrings and women wore jeans. We were before yogurt, sugarless gum, plastics and the 40 hour week and minimum wages. We got married first and then liv- ed together. (how quaint) Closets were for clothes, not for coming out of, and 'bunnies were small rabbits, and beetles were not Volkswagons. We were before Frank Sinatra and cup-sizing for bras. Girls wore Peter Pan collars and thought cleavage was something butchers did. We were before Batman, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Snoopy; before DDT, vitamin puIs, disposable diapers, CE one and jeeps, the WW2 and pizza, ins- tant coffee, decaffeinated anything and McDonalds and Kentucky Fried weren't even heard of. We thought fast food was for, abstaining during Lent. We were before Boy George and Beatles had to be swatted. Before FM radios, tape recorders, electric typewriters,' word processors, electr onic music and disco dancing, (and that's not ail bad!). In our day, cigarette smoking was fashionable, grass was for mowing, Coke was a refreshing drink and pot was something you cooked in.
