The weather was gorgeous, and the lunch, provided by the Orono Parent Teacher Association, delicious. To top off this fair, a huge chocloate iced, cream and jmm filled cake, was eagerly tucked into by all, încluding the "Times" reporter. Following the lunch, the students put "Goldilocks" on trial for steal- ing the Three Bear's porridge and for sleeping in the smallest bear's bed. "Goldilocks" was subsequent- ly "found guilty. as charged" and sentenced. The -mock trial" gave the students the opportunity to re- create a court trial, based upon their observations at a court trial which they> had attended in con- junction with their school studies. Nothing was missed, "Goldilocks" was subjected to cross examination by the crown, finger print evidence was introduced, together with the evîdence of the two arresting policemen. "Goldilocks" lawyer, in turn cross-examined the policemen, and called witnesses on her behaîf. At the conclusion of "Goldîlocks" trail, Vice Principal ion Leith was ordered to stand trial by the Grade 6 students, charged with, giving a false age, leaving the school grounds prior to 3:30 p.mn., and consistently telling "sick jokes." These charges -caught Mr. Leith completely by surprise, as it was in- tended too. Under the cir- cumstances he could offer little evidence, and was soon found "ýguilty as charged." His sentence consisted of the presentation of a diploma, which stated his real age as 40 and not 29, with a promise to display the said diploma in a promi- nient position at his new school. He was also the recipient of a fine "T" Shirt emblazoned with two large fish that he wished he had caught. The day was a happy one for the departing Grade 6 students, and one that they will long remember. Their teacher, Carol Bailey, was thanked by ail the students for their final public school year, and their sentiments were echoed by aIl the parents present.
