Letter to the Editor Orono except for maybe Tykes & Novices wbo bavent bit the politics yet. The O.M.H.A. status that is held so bigh i Orono is also a problemi. Teanis are being forced to play, O.M.H.A. because enroîlment is down and Uiey don't want to lose Uieir O.M.H.A. status because it is supposedly bard to get back. Stop and tbink what you are doing to those kids wbo are flot skilled enoug h or even want to be skîlled enougb to play O.M.H.A. calibre hockey. Believe it or not some luds just like to play hockey for fun witbout al the competitiveness. by Kathy Parry Ini view of tie hockey season now upon us we thought we would express our opinions and reasons for our 2 boys separate decisions as to their new hockey season. Our 2 boys were each given the choice as to where they would like, to play hockey this year. The reason why they were given that choice- is because even tbough we have our doubts about organized sports ini Orono, it is our children who play flot ourselves. Our youngest son chose to play i Orono, is reason is because he wants to play witb bis friends. Our oldest son bas chosen to play in Bowrnanville bis reasons because a lot of his fricnds went to Bowmanville and his other reason is he said that after the way be was treated i Orono last year, he mnight have a happier time somewhere cisc. Wbich by the way so far he is. Our biggest concerni is that our youngest doesnt run into tbe hypocrites and politics that affected our oldest son last year. Our boys just want to have a good time playing hockey. Tbcy donit understand politics nor should they have to just to play hockey. 11 We know that hockey is dwidling i Orono every year and also that some of the O.A.A.A. members have been over heard saying they could care less because they can rent out thc ice and make more money. Althougb it is neyer rented out to Bowmanville. It is sure a sad day when area cildren dont play in our own arena that alot of our past and present citizens worked very bard te get. Cbiidren from larger centres like Oshawa play in our arena and ours are forced out. When we say forccd out believe me it is flot always Uic higb fees. It is time i our opiion that Uic O.A..A.A. take a good long look at what is happening and forget Uieir superiority and arrogance and remember the O.A.A.A. is supposed to C.A.R.E. about our kids. After a recent article published in our area newspaper once again we have realized Uiat thc Orono Athletic still bas flot changed their opinions about politics. May we suggest te Uic Athletic that instead of worrying about Orono kids being allowed or not alloed to play on Select teamns, they turil their tboughts to "WHY?' tbey are losing ail their hockey players. When they bave realistically realized their problems, maybe they wouldnt bave to worry about who should or sbould flot be allowed to play for Select or Toro Teains. The O.A.A.A. bas taken ail the enjoyment out of playîng hockey i ALLIN BROOK Feed & Farm Supplie s Corner of Hwy. 115 and Clarke 4th'LUne E. If my busband and daugbter hadnt awakened also, I know I would If the Orono Athletic doesn't realize soon that they have a definite probleni our citizens who worked so bard for a nice arena for ail of our kids, will lose it to "The Town of Newcastle."
