New local business takesflight A'n Orono outiet for scrap batteries lIn speaking with Arnold Wallace of Wallace Auto Supplies in Orono this week he has informed us that there is now a environmental solution to dispose of those old batteries that have been a problem for disposal. Wallace Auto Supplies, an associate store with MeKerlie- Millen Inc., ig accepting old batteries brought to the Orono and Bowmanville stores. In return the bearer obtains a Blue Bux coupon valued at one dollar which can be used for the $1 .00 value on any purchase in the store. The program is n0w operating in Orono and is 50 operating in 160 outiets throughout the province which are associated with McKerlie-Millen Imc. The scrap batteries are to be shipped by the company to Pennsylvania where a recycle firm will recover the lead, acid and plastic. The acid is to be used in feî tilizer while the remainder of the battery will be reused. It is onîy a niche in the disposaI problem of waste but it is a step forward in overcoming a concern for the environment.
