For this years annual contribution from our local Kinettes, several folks donated toys, and food, including two large turkeys. Each year the Kinettes donate a healthy portion of monies "I raised to mhe Christmas Food Drive for the Saivation Army. Throughout the year, Kinettes are involved in community causes and events, such as the popular Skate-A-Thon and Bike-A-Thon, as well as working in the conimunity care area. Their anticipation had grown quite rapidiy, and heart beats couid be heard throughout the corridor. They realized that soon, they would see an annual spectacle that would be admired throughout the year. It was time for Santa Claus to make bis stop. The brightly lit artificiai image of an ancient tree, projected from the cameras suspended from the ceîling, was widely respected among the colony. Every week, the families wouid gather around to sing the carols of the turnes past, whiie the children tobogganed down dhe siope of artificial snow made available to them by a corporation that supplied ail things needed for domestic activities. There was a wide range of these activities, but they were Most needed for the Christmas season. It was the best and most favoured season of ail on TIX. The children were not suppose to be awake but excitement had overwheimed them. Event if they were ordered to go to bed, they would flot sleep. They would- sit, and taik of what they wanted most for Christmas. Soon they would retire and tara in for the night, but somewhat against their will. The1 party was just getting over with, and the tumout was brilliant, mhe entire colony was there. Punch was served, and cookies by the chefs were gone instantly. The gamnes were fun, and enjoyed by ail. But through ail the excitement and joy that arose from the peoples spirits, the eiders were not so cheery. The seniors were in attendance, and they sat off to the side chatting of the old days and discussing the weather. (which was not a great topic, since the climate was controlied by the satellites in orbit, and could be altered at the drop of a pin). They were not widely communicating with the younger generation. They pieased themselves with their own company. They knew, as every year, that this is not what they remembered of Christmas. They were part of the age of freedom, $4 million surplus to keep taxes down The City of Scarborough with a budget of $129 million finds a $4 million surplus will exist at mhe end of the year.
