The Blue Heron Most everyone is faiiar with what we cal the stately Blue Huron which in colourful plumage, long bill and neck and long legs patrols the shallows of creuks, lakes and ponds. It is all in suarch of food in the shallows of minnows, and other water lifu. It is a symbol of patience both at rest and init s hunting pracrice. This wuuk Royal Lue of Luskard area providud us witb a tabloid, Thousand Island Sun Vacationur, which containud an i nturesting and somnewhat un- known feature of the Blue Huron. The Vacationer containud a suries of five pictures of a Blue Huron luaving a tre purch in fliglit, thun travelling ovur the waters of- the St. Lawrence, a rippie on the watur as the bird totaliy disappearud into the watur, thun flying out of the water and finaliy coming to rest on dry ]and witb a mud cat fishi in its long bill. A truly non-typical trait of the Blue Hucron. It was certainly taking oni the fishing hiabits of tie King Fislier and the Osprey hawk with total disappearance imb Utc <Icjflh or ic water. Royal certainly coiîsidered ibis an unique trait of the Blue leron as would nost cveryon.e ,Sc.
