In the second period, the hot stick of Josh Brant scered its second and hat trick goal with assists by Chris Kirkbride and Orono Duffer: h.ave busy wei On Friday, Octeber 30, 1992 1 the Dufferin Aggregate Tyke team played flowmanville's Skylight Donut's. With Orone's Bryan Bickell ceming eut strong in the first period getting two goals, one assisted by Brian Pisani, te give Orono 2-0 lead. Early in the second peried Kevin Martin 1 scored his first goal of the year te give Oreno a 3-0 lead. It wasn't much longer when Bowmanville's Skylight Denut's came alive te score on Oreno's goalie Evan Moore. Evan Moore playing a great first gamne in net let only tliree goals in, until the last 45 seconds of the game when Bowmanville scored once again te win 4-3. On Saturday, October 31, 1992 the Dufferin Aggregate Tyke team went te Darlington for a 7 a.m. game. Being up early in the merning didn't seem te bother these boys as they defeated Bowmanville's M & M Meats 13- 0. Matt Caruana being brighit eyed and bushy tailed scored 7 of these goals with Jeff Mercier collecting two assists. Bryan Bickell also having a successful morning scored 5 goals, with Colin Maitland giving assistance te ene and Brian Pisani te another. Jeff Mercier scored the other goal of Major Plumbing hosted team T-Mac Thursday, October 29 in Atem Division play of the BRHL. T-Mac quickly exercised a 'Killer Instinct' approach te their gamne as they launched a barrage of scoring attacks on the Orono team only te bc repelled time and time agaîn by netminder Dusty Stapleton and some good goal meuth clearing by his defencemen! t sceemed the only way T-Mac was going te put the puck in the net was if Dusty was bodily rernoved fromn goal area. Unfortunately that's exactly what happened at 4:46 of the first period, whcen only after two fine successive saves by the Orono goalie were they able te 'slip the disk' by himi as hie was unable te recover his netmîinding position. H-OWCVer, with just 45 seconds reinaining ini the pcriud, Captajin Greg Shetler broke loose on a fine sole effort, beatîng two defenders and firing a low wrist shot te the corner te tie it up at 1- 1. This seemed te be a confidence booster for the home teami and at 13:57 of the second framne Major Plumbing defencemnan Paul Landers 'turned on the jets' and skated end te end te get the go ahecad marker for Orono unassîsted. T-Mac was really fired up in tie final framne as they blitzed goaler Dusty Stapleton and his defence crew with everything they had! Finally at 9:11 of the third they were rewarded as they tied it at 2-2 on a third rebound shot! Undaunted, Greg Shetler took advantage of a rare scering chance f'or Orone as hie was sent in the clear by Andrew Beacock just over 3 minutes later to give his teamn a 3- Orono Roughley Insur. Up Date Bradley DaSilva. Chris Kirkbride also scered an unassisted goal in the second perîod, while James Ins. ceuntered with one of their ewn. James Ins. struck first in the third period but Kyle Moore, unassisted, ended the game scering with 1:55 te go. Nick Lucyk played a fantastic game in net for Orono wîth our beys coming eut on top 6-3. Saturday, November 7 will be their first away game with a noon match at Bewmanville Recreation Comnplex. See you there! in Tykes ek-end the game with Matt Caruana assisting. Tending goal for us in this great game was Andrew Bangay who made some great saves te give himself his first shut- eut. Great game boys, and make sure you bring your fans eut fer Friday, November 6, 1992 at 7 p.m. as you are having an exhibition game against Newcastle # 1 team. Scered First Goal of the Year Kevini Martin (Tom) Kevin Martin, 7, son of Tomn and Karen, scored his first goal of the 92/93 season on October 30, 1992. Kevini wears thie # 15 and plays for dhe Orono Tyke # 2 teamn. Conigratulations Kevini. Last week the Toronto Blue Jays lived up to their mnotte of three for three in '92 as they won the World Series. Not to be outdone, the Orono OMHA Novice hockey teamn went three for three this week as they defeated two teamns fromn Oshawa and one from Stouffville for their first three victories of the young season. Wednesday night in Orono saw the Oshawa Bruins of the Little NHL corne te town. It looked like Orono was going te run away and hide i the early going as the boys came eut hungry for a win saying lets win this one for Glencoe referring te their teammate m issîng from the linieup due te an injury suffered on the weekend, With just over one minute gone in the first period, Jeff Thompson assisted by Matt Reid and Justin Standeven. One minute later Jake Bonnetta scored his first goal of the season after taking a nice pass fromt Kyle Moore te give Orono a two goal lead. The game tightened Up after that and it wasn't until midway throughi the second period tha> Scott Wood scored assisted by Justin Standeven. With only seven minutes left in the game Lee Allin in the Orono net had his shutout bid spoiled as Oshawa managed te sneak one by him. Orono got that one back as Colin Cureatz outskated the Oshawa defense te score after being fed a perfect breakaway pass by Jamie Rowe also ass isted by Christ Bouley. 2 lead. Dusty and his blueliners - M ike Knox, Corey Tufts, Paul Landers, Kevin Francis, and Greg Rester really had T-Mac scratching their helmects as Orono thwarted any further attempts of a comneback by the visitors. Major Plumbing's centerman Matt McGlynni put the 'icing on the cake' with just 30 seconds remnaining as he pounced on a Clint Hawkshaw rebound te seal a 4-2 victory for Dusty and the team! This week's featured player is number 3, defenceman Greg Bester. Greg's birth date is December 20, 1982. Greg is a seasoned veteran in the 'Bigs' and this marks hîs fifth year in the sport. Greg is a 'ne-nonsense- stay-at-home-just-do-the-job' type of blueliner. That suits his coaching staff and netminder just fine because when number 3 is on the ice they alI seem much more relaxed whenever the puck gees in Orono's end of the rink! Greg thiniks super Marie Lemnieux is going te lead his Pittsburg Peniguins te a Stanley Cup victory in 1993. This year Greg's coaches look te him te be a teamn leader on the blueline and hopefully add a little scering punch down the stretch corne playoff time! Next garne for Major Plumbing is an exhibition contest as they host teamn Carnation for a return match. This one has ail the ear marks of a classic confrontation (remember big num1-rber il guys?!). Gaine time is 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night (Novemiber 5) at Orono arena. Sec you there! Final score Orono 4,.Oshawa 1. Friday night, regular league play resumned when Stouffvîlle visited Orono. Once again the local herees camne eut flying scoring very early in the first period. Colin Cureatz got the job done completing a pretty three way passing play in the opposing end by Jamie Rowe and Jeff Thompson. t looked like that would hold as the enly score until the ridpeint of the third period when Stouffville scored on a rebound te tie the score. Orono was net about te let this one get away when Justin Standeven scored on a wrap areund from behind the Stouffville net assisted by Matt Reid te, give Orono the 2- 1 victery., Early Sunday merning Orono had their first eppertunity te play on the b ig ice surface of the' Civic Auditorium in Oshawa when, they visited the Oshawa Canadiens. The combination of the early start following Halloween night saw both teamis a little sluggish at the start. t took until the last minute of the first peried for Justin Standeven assisted by Matt Reid and Colin Cureatz te give Orono the lead. In the second period Orono had several excellent scoring chances and finally beat the Oshawa goalie when Tyson Gimblett broke in from his left -wing position te score unassisted. In the third period, Orono scored two quick goals on the same shift with Jamie Rowe notching his first of the season assisted by Scott Wood. These boys immediately reversed roles when Scott Wood scored assisted by Jamie Rowe. For the third censecutive game Lee Allin in the Orono net saw his Book Review WOMEN WHO RUN WITHý, THE WOLVES Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archtype by C.
