Theres something about spring that always give one that completely rejuvenated feeling. There is a renewed sense of energy. Everyone feels....well.... Sporiy! It began slowiy a few weeks ago. Yuck!!! And naturally the boys of summer are back! Not just the Blue Jays, though many have been awaiting their arrivai, but just the good old boys that hang out at the basebaîl diamonds on the weekend. They-are busily on their way to getting their pitcher, ooops 1 meant "pitching" .arm in shape. Everywhere you look wheels are making a comeback, as welI. Hiomeopathy subj ect at local Book Store by Pat Irwvin Lycett On April 20th, 1993, at Crystal Pages the Book Store in Orono,' Dr. John Hawrylak gave an exciting informational talk on the general history and success of homeopathy in the treating and curing of illness. Homeopathy cornes from the Greek words: Homolos meaning similar, and pathos meaning suffering. Homeopathy is a 200 year old systern which offers a gentie means of stimulating the body's inner healing resources, by recognizing and reinforcing the adaptive reactions of our natural, defense processes. This is done by choosing the correct, individually suited homeopathic medicine from the plant, minerai, animal, or chemical kingdomn. When the medicines are prescribed correctly, they act rapidly, deeply and curatively, stimulatîng the bodys defenses, rather than simply suppressing symptoms. Any substance which, when given in a strong dose, produces specific symfptoms in a healthy person, is likely, if given in an infinitesimal dose, to cause those same symptôms to disappear in a sick person. One example cited, which everyone in the audience found fascinating was the relatîonship between asthma and a rash in a child. The onset of the symptomns of asthrna is frequently preceded by a rash; the body's "first line of defense" producing the rash as it tries -to indicate its distress. Allopathic medical treatmnent prescribes drugs in various forms Creek treated for Iampreys The Wilmot Creek is but one creek in the aea being treated for lamprey eels. The department of Fisheries and Oceans have already treated the Wilrnot and are moving on to other creeks in the area with the advent of good weather conditions. Four Canadian Creecks and seven American Creeks are. being treated with Lamnpricide. The prograrn is carried out on a sornewhat regular basis over thei years. A sea Iamprey is an eel-like creature with no jaws, scales or fins. The eel attaches itself to a fish by means of a sucking disk and sharp teeth. IL feeds off the fluid of the fish through the scales and skin. ILt often kilîs the fish. t is stated that the sea eels prefer big fish attacking lake trout and chinook salmon preferably. 3112our course forpeoplo onthe go. The disease which is causing both symptoms is suppressed and it's srnall wonder that the young asthma sufferer continues to need extensive asthrna therapy. The body's disease has flot been addressed. Homeopathy can help these children. Homeopathy is used widely in Europe, specifically in Britain and Germany. 't is known as -a mearis of bringing the patient into the process of creating his or her own health, surely a needed idea. While stressing that ail medical delivery systems have their place, Dr. Hawrylaksemphasis is on n aturopathy and homeopath y, speciaiizing in food and chemnical sensitivities as well as stress and environmental imbalances, and the treatment thereof. At Crystal Pages in Orono, in the autumn of 1993, Dr. Hawrylak will offer a series of informnational talks on various ilînesses which can be helped by homneopathy. Dates to be announced.
