Scoring the eventual game winner at 3:21 and his first of 2 on the night, was Captain Bob Witheridge assisted, by Winger Ryan Tresise and defenceman Greg Bester. Cobourg school a top priority The Separate School Board priority list lists a new secondary school in Cobourg at the top of the list. The decision came despite arguments by some board members that the new high school was needed in Bowmanville over the need that existed in Cobourg. Over the last nine years the Cobourg school has increased in enrolment from 43 students to 450 and expects to rise to 700 by the end of the decade. The school services Istudents from all f Northumberland county and has 21 portables. Bantams keep their unbeaten streek alive The Halminen Homes Major Bantams kept their unbeaten streak alive this week, with a come-from- behind 3-2 victory over Maiicham, at the Darlington arena. The first period was ail Toros and were unlucky not to take a lead into the second period, however, they had to seule for the tie. Markham came out strong to begin the second and took the lead after just .37 seconds. The game then began to slip away from the Tomos and their defence were bard pressed to keep the score to just 1- 0. Midway through the period, the visitors pressure paid off and Cameron Millar was beaten again to make it 2-0 for Markhani. The lime of Darryl Cook, Ryan Jobb and Derek Lange then went to work and with Jobb and Lange setting him up, Cook hit for a natural hat-trick to win the game for the Toros. His first came before the end of the 2nd period when he picked up a loose puck in the crease and slid it past the Markham keeper. Three minutes into the 3rd he struck again on an almost identical play, both these goals were set up by Jobb and Lange. The game winner came witb 9:35 left and this time Milar was assisted by Lange and Tony Butzer. Markbam then put on continuous pressure to try to equalize and only some great goaltending from Cameron Millar, who pulled off 5 to 6 saves from point-blank range, kept themn in the game. Markham had a great opportunity, when the Bowmanville team took a minor penalty witb only 1:05 left on the dlock and the Markham keeper on the bench in favour of an extra attacker. However, the defence came up strong and held off the Markham team to preserve the wln. 'Me Halminen Homes unbeaten streak now stands at 7, with a record of 6 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie.1 The team plays Markham on Monday, November lst, in Markham and then hosts Orillia at Darlington on Friday, November 5th.
