Thay managed however, te find plenty of tima for fun extra-curricular activities. Clarka High School held thair annual Christmas talent show last ,Z.riday afternoon at tha schaol. Pere Noel; Sinterlaase; St. Nicholas & Nisse. You guessed it. The school was host te a "Christmas Around tha World". The avening event took the place of the annual Christmas Concert. Began teaching in 1958 Mary Ellen Beamish of Port Hope, a superintendent with the Northumberland and Clarington Board of education retires at the end of the year. She was honoured recently at a banquet in her honour when many spoke of ber leadership and one who had advanced the cause of womený in educational administration. Mrs. Beamish started teaching in 1958 in the Port Hope High Sehool then advancing ta become vice-principal at the Cobourgý District Collegiate East in 1981. Ste was the first woman to bccomce principal of a high school ini the system in 1982. In 1987 slie moved to Port Hope as Principal.
