Their opponients wcre as the week previous Deighton Associates. The outcome was also as the week previous with Uic Aggies posting a shutout against Uic Deighton team. With their trademark persistent forcchecking and aggrcssive defensive play thc Aggies dominatcd Uic play. Optimist Club Tyke Selects, with three games on Uic slate. Friday, March 4Ui found Uic team in Pickering for a rematch against Uic Ajax Tyke Selects, who had beaten Bowmianvile a few weeks carlier. On Uiis occasion, however, the boys pickcd up wliere Uiey had left off in winning the Wonderland Cup the week before, and Uiey dcfcated Ajax 3- 1. Supported by strong goaltcnding from Justin Andrews and Gord Baird, Uic boys played a typically strong defensive game, while managing to solve Uic defensive prowess of tic Ajax squad. Although Bowmanvillc scemed to control mudli of the first period, they were unable to pressure Uic Ajax net, and Ajax finally scored in Uic last minute of the period, in spite of three point blank saves by Justin Andrews on Uic play. Midway Urough Uic second period, Rene C artier jumped alI over a loase puck during an Ajax line change and went in to score unassisted. With the game tied at one halfway Urough tic third period, Bowmanville applied pressure around Uic Ajax net and finally got Uic go-abead goal from Bryan Barchard, assistcd by Adam Cryderman and Steplien Cornelissen. Bryan added insurance a fcw seconds later on a long shot that thc Ajax goalie tried to shoot away before stopping. He missed, Adam Cryderman pickcd up bis second assist of Uic period on Uic play. The first gamne against the Pickering Tyke Sclects saw Bowmanville explode from Uic opening face-off for a quick goal by Adanm Cull, assisted by Rene Cartier. Sbortly thereafier Matt, Best snuck in behind Pickering's defence ta take a pass fram Bryan Barclard and score on a long' breakaway after fending off a couple of defenders along tle way. Pickering fmnally got on Uic board on a shot from behind Uic Bowmanville net tbat caromed in' off Justin Andrews' foot. Rene Cartier got that one back on a shorUianded brcakaway with an excellent backland shot. Andrews made a fine brcakaway stop in Uic last minute, and Uic tcam led 4-1, lead Icading into Uic third period. The remainder of ic game was a scrappy affair, with both îeams playing a tiglit- checking style and limiting the number of, quality scoring chances, Pickering had a slight edge in play in Uihis period and secmcd tb force Bowmanville away from their positional gamne, but Andrews was beaten only once more, and lic made a couple of Potvin-like saves ta preserve Uic 4-2 win. Final shots on goal were 11-7 in favour of Bowmanville. Next, it was off to Brooklin for a 9 p.m. encouniter with Uic Whitby Selects. This was a rematcî of a game played in January betwccn these two teams, wbicb was won by Bowmanville 3-2. On this night, bowever, Whitby prevailed 4-2, despite bclag outslot il to 6.
