The 'designiation is- being sou ght by 168125 Canada Inc. whio owns property on the south-west corner of whiat will bc the hamlet of Brownsville. The developer had previously applied for a 30 lot estate development for the area. At the presenit time Brownsville is dcsignated a rural cluster. The planning department noted that Brownsville had 57 built lots the same number as that of Kendal and comparing with 63 in Leskard, 10Oin Kirby and 12 i Enfield, all known as Hamiets. Frank Wu assured Counc. David Scott that the designation change would not open up the area te developoient at this lime. Counc. Dreslinski said that Brownsville with its number of homes was certainly more than a rural cluster. It was noted that coundil had in 1990 sought te have the area designated a hamlet in the Regional Officiai Plan but that the request was ignored by the Region.
