Orono residents Mark Kelly, Justin Caruana and Matt Mitchell, who consti- tute 50% of the team's defence corps, were also outstanding throughout the tournament. In the artist's words, images are "manipulat- ed into poetic narratives that investigate social issues and explore the psyche of our con- temporary society. "One might compare them to Surrrealists on a picnic, or pieces of a dream. Clint and his brother Scott have been frequent exhibitors in group shows at the centre, and were also featured in Mapping the (Un)Familiar, writ- ten by Pam Patterson and Margaret Rodgers, and pub- lished by the Visual Arts Centre. Scott will also be exhibiting his work at the cen- tre in a solo show in February. Thought-provoking and entertaining, the artistic com- munity is important to the development of regional identi- ty. Artists are encouraged by those who visit exhibitions and otherwise support their endeav- ours. Therefore, the public is urged to visit the Visual Arts Centre at the opening or during regular gallery hours to not only enjoy the exhibition but also lend a voice of acknowledge- ment to the artist.
