A discus- sion of astronomy and astrology followed. The stars have fascinat- ed people over the ages. Astrology is the fore-run- ner of the science of astronomy. The ancients imagined that thse const.el- lations outlined the shapes of men, animais and other objects and gave them naines. The word -zodiac" comes from Greek mean- ing "circle of animais." .Astrologers thought that thse positions of the suni, moon and planets in the circle of constellations con- trolled the fate of persons and nations. Their posi- tions when a child was horn supposedly deter- mined character and des- tiny. For most people today, these theories are in the realm of myth. Most read- ers regard the daily horo- scope as entertaimment although some still bar- bour superstitions that beavenly bodies influence lives. One thing is certain ... the beavens are an awesome sight. Psalm 19 states it will:' The heavens declare the glonfGthle firmament showeth His handiwork. Members of the unit were reminded of the Oshawa Preshyterial U.C.W. workshop for ail locals on Tuesday, January 28th in Ebenezer United Church from 9:30 - 12 noon. Led by Rev. David and Lorraine Black.' the workshop theme is "Why Men and Women Think Differently". 4T CLUB The 4T Club held their Xmas supper December 19th with 511 attendlng.
