Family Auto emerge as tournament champs The OMHA Orono Family Auto Bantam Leafs have had a busy post-season schedule recently. February 16 they were edged 5-3 by the Orono Midget Leafs. February 23 they were trounced 10-2 by a vtsitlng Oshawa Sco&t's Drug Mart club. March 1 they fought to a 4-4 draw with a vislting Uxbridge entry. March 3 the Leafs visited Manvers bouncing back with 6-2 wtn over the Mustangs. Saturday, March 8 Orono saw tournament action ti Hastings taking home the "B"; Championship honours. hI gaine 1 the Leafs demoltshed the Peterboro Selects 12- 1. It was a much tougher battle ti game 2 wth Orono on the losing end of a 5-3 encounter to the Clarington Selects. Game 3 resulted i an 8-.5 wln over Beleville and the "B" Championship. Witheridge 2 N EWS UNIT #3 A very interesting and edu- cational meeting was held Tuesday,, March 4, at the home of Eleanor Terril When members and guests of Unit #3, were entertained by guest Diane Goff, Bethesda House, Bowmanville. Diane is Chairperson of Bethesda House and also works out of Durham College. Our guest brought a very excellent resume of the ser- vices and probleins of bat- tered women in our societies. Children are of course the innocent vlctims. Many shocking statistics were told to our guests. The roll cail was answered by each member bringlng ti a total of 7-8 bags of bath tow- els for Bthesda House. Our speaker was thanked! The devotional was of course on the "Easter" theme & readings & prayers were given by Jenny Bowins, Eleanor Tenuil & Isabelle. A pretty Easter Arrangement contained the Easter Bunny holding a jar of candy & ladies estimated how many i jar, Mrs. Hilda Wright was winner. Bowmanviile retaliated soon aler and following suit was Orono again - earning the goal was Brandon West who defied the commotion ai the net. and solidly planted the puck between the pipes with the vigilant assistance of Reid McDonald. Again Bowmanville scored to obtain a 2-2 tieby the end of the sec- ond perioïl. Both teamis dug i their blades and the com- petition was relentless. Unfortundtely' for Orono, Bowmanvile squeaked ti two more goals to earn a 4-2 win. Great effort Orono!
