Bob Kisb (478 TJT Racing/Express Courier Malibu) bad buiît up a healthy lead at the halfway mark when Bill Jessup (#88 Milltown Mini Golf Malibu) spun in turn one, bringing out the caution flag, allowing Warbutton (#24 AI _Kings Used Autos/Baseline Storage Chevelle) to close the gap. "I was within two car Iengths before the yellow came out," said Warbutton. After the yellow flag, the tires on Warbutton's machine Ilwent away a little bit." Warbutton took the Iead with five laps remain 'ing. Kish originally jumped into the lead from bis fifth starting spot, making a bold dive to the inside, then build- ing up a ten car lengtb lead over tbe second and tbilrd place cars of Ross Pettifer (425 Percise Office Repair/Harrison Auto) and Mike Cross (#07). Glen Frîcker (918 Red Stallion Automotive/Tudor Arms Pub Malibu) then took over the third spot, getting under Cross down the backstraight on lap seven. Witb the top four cars now strung out, a blanket could have been tbrown over the battle for positions five tbrougb eleven. Warbutton bad been catch- ing up to Kisb just prior to -the halfway mark wben tbe cau- tion flag came out. On the restart, Warbutton took a peek to the higb side of Kîsh down the backstraigbt, but couîdn't pass. Frîcker then joined the figbt, getting under Warbutton; Owen Smith (#40 G&R Automotive/Beeton Auto Body LeMans) then dove under Fricker, making it briefly tbree wide. Warbutton was able to maintain second place, wbile Smith took over tbird - Albeit briefly--from Fricker. Fricker and Smith again swapped positions. At the checkered flag it was Warbutton, followed by Kish, Fricker Smith and Derek Henderson t,#71 Durham Business Maîl/Chilvers Data Systems). Heat race winners were Warbutton and Smith, Wbile Dan Robinson stretched his MAC Tools Thunder Car points lead, Nick Sinopoli served notice that the battle isn't over yet. Robinson (#2 Chambers Food/Priggen Automotive LeMans) won the twenty-lap Thunder Car race, while Sinopoli (#6 Chilvers Data Systems Chevelle) - who was in fourth in the point stand- ings before the night started-- finished second. With the top two cars, quickly opening up a haîf straghtwaylead, the large, battle forthird place devel- oped between Terry Shaw (#66 Ford Crown Victoria),, Robinson. Smith, S--teve Drysdale (#76 Ajax Locksmith/JD3 Air.Tool Monte Carlo) and Crowtber. These five cars were soon joined by Rob Glanville (#74 Steeves Auto Supply Firebird) and Sinopoli. Hardy took command prior to tbe balfway mark, getting under Price as tbe pair beaded into turn four, finalîy takng, the lead exiting turn two. 1Robinson had by this time, caugbt up to Price for tbe sec- ond spot. Robinson took over the lead just after tbe halfway point, going higb exiting turn two. Tbe caution flag came out with just five laps remaining, when Price and Shaw spun between turns one and two. Following tbe restart, Sinopoli slipped by Hardy for second spot. At the finish line, it was Robinson, Sinopoli, Hardy, Ken Perrier (#9 AI Kîngs Used Autos/Ryder Integrated Logistics Dodge Aspen) and Rick Lemmens (#7 J&R Auto Glass/Newmarket Iron Monte Carlo). 1Winning heat races were Roy Martell 1(411 Karbelt/Polar Motorsports Malibu), Glanville, Sinopoli and Lemmens. Orono #2 Tyke1 soccer club Drops curtaîn on Vaàleo Drapery On Thursday. July 24, coach Gary Bridger's Orono 92 tyke soccer team met up with Valeo Drapery coming up with a convincing 6 -1 vic- tory. The club worked very bard and even picked up most of the feathers on the soccer field. The goalies for the game were Felicia Brown. Courtney Elson, Tyvler Webster, Dillon Empey and Cary Konopka. AIl the scorîng for Orono #2 was done by Dillon Empey and Lucas Martin, each find- ing the mark three times. The other hard-working members of the club were Bernard (B.J.) Reilly. Ryan_ Wood and Megan Ernst.
