INTERACTIVE HEALTH By Pat Irwin Lycett, R.N., B.Sc., Registered Nutritional Conisultant, Certified Iridologist, Ear Candling. 983-94-75 1-OW TO SPRING-CLEAN VOUR INNARDS Wouid you agree that, right now at the end of winter, we can use ail the sunshine we can get? As we turn our faces Ito the scanty sun, in an attempt to soak up some of that precious Vitamnin D, we miight also turn our attention to the inside of our beautiful bodies which NEVER SEE TH1E SU-N.!! Green Drinks, and e--specially CHLOROPHYLL, are often referred to as LIQUID SUNSHINE. On a cellular level, look-qng at the body as a composiion of millions of tiny celis, the place where either health or disease begin to make their mark, we find that chlorophyll is able to performi a massive cleansing function because it bas absorbed energy from the suni. Every housewife can tell you that the sunri s a grect bleacher, freshener, mold-reducer and al - round great ally in the neyer- ending task of keeping our homes dlean and healthy. Its fluids dlean the structure of the celI, and ts important minerais build new celI ife. If you remember, there are two important funictions to digestion: the taking in and utilization of nutrients, and the remnovai of waste. (Each tiny celi, titrougli osmýrosis, if it is a healthy cell, accepts nutrients and discards waste.) So: - chlorophyl is a great naturai healer aiid cleanser for chronic conditions externally and internalIy. It stops growth and development of toxic bacteria. Disease-causing bacteria find it difficmilý to live in the presence of chlorophyll. It accelerates tissue cel activity and normal re-growth of celis which help the body heal faster. *It bas been used in salves and ointments for external use, and as a gargle for tonsils. It bas been known to inhibit the metaboiic action of cancer- causing elements. Blood runs in our arteries and veins, whereas the life-giving fluid in plants is CHLOROPHYLL. Plants, and their ife-giving nutrients, are easily assimilated by our humnan bodies. The HOW TO SPRING-CLEAN VOUR INNARDS (Chiorophyli in greens) molecular structure of chiorophyli (central atomn being .magnesium) is similar to that of blood (mtolecular structure being iron). Chiorophyli hias the same effect as iron and is a natural BLOOD BUILDER. Menstrual blood contains 40% more calcium than normal blood, a great monthily loss, and eblorophyli hielps control this monthly loss of calciu0m. Chiorophyli aids- in blood sugar problemrs. T'here is a juncture between) the small and large bowel which is named the ileo-cecal valve. Many times when we have right- lower-sided pain in our abdomens, and the first thought is to suspect the appendix, the actual offender is this valve, which becomes properly lubricated and kept open and running by eating quantities of greens. Chiorophyli increases thie iron i nilk on nursing mothers. If one has taken a nuniber of drugs over one's life ( and who hasn't), you can count on chlorophyll to help purify your liver and eliminate old drug deposits. lTe same holds true for chemnical spray on foods, artificialý flavouring, colours and other coal tar products that may be stored in your body. Chiorophyli hielps to get bile moving regularly. Bile, remiem- ber', is produced 'in the liver, stored in the gaîl bladder--if you have one, and essential in the digestion and absorption of every drop of fat that you ingest. As a matter of fact, if your gali bladder I15 missing, youi'd benefit immenseiy from adding botit chiorophyli and other minerals to your diet. Without a storage area, and a measured programmed amount of bile being released at the appropriate timnes, it is aimost impossible to properly deal with fats comning down the digestive tract. ,Chlojophyil is a natural antiseptic in the digestive tract,' rebuilds damnaged bowel tissue and heips to eliminate mucous. It reduces acid which produces putrefaction in the bowel. CHLOROPHYLL IS S0 VALUABLE TO THE BODY THAT IT SHOULD BE INGESTED DAILY, IF YOU SUSPECT YOU'RE NOT TAKJNG IN ENOUGH The March il regular meeting of the Newcastle Lions Club took place i the Lons lRoom at the Newcastle Community Hall. President George R-ickard acted as chairman and welcomed thir- ty-flve Newcastle Lions and two guests. Gordon Jiks and Everett Vierhout. A roasi beef dinner was enjoyed by ail. After dinner Lion Terry Graham explained how a Lions Club functions for the new Lions benefit and for the seasoned Lions that have a problem remembering. He went over the committee structures and how they are formed. Lion Terry also explained how the directors are elected and some of the rules thiat apply to, the orga- nization. A.new,, featýure at Newcastle Lions meetings this year is the WVho's W/ho section where a mem-ber is asked to give a short biography of them- selves. This week Lion Dick Lovekin and Lion R~ay Goode with 80 years of combined service to the Lions organiza- tion gave very interesting accounts. Lion Stan Powell was asked to introduce the guest speaker, Everett Vierhout, a well known local builder who Is now retlred and spends mucli of his time working wlth his pigeons. Everett explained to the audience that pigeons have been his hobby since boyhood long before lie came to Canada. He brought along three birds to show the difference between the domesticated variety and the common barn variety as well as other para- phernalia. Everett proved to be very knowledgeable about his lnterest an-d kept the audience's attention as hie explalned the many facets of breeding and racing pigeons. One vision conjured up'in this writers rmmd was the sky tumning black as many thou- sands of pigeons are released to finid their way home. This happens many times each- year in Europe where the sport is much more popular than it is here. In fact it is not un-common there to have many new cars as prizes for the winniers. The speaker was thanked by Lion Howard Quinney. In the business prior of the meeting motions were made and passed to donate to three GREENS, WHICH ARE RATHER BITTER TO THE TASTE, GREEN DRINlKS ARE AVAILABLE.
