Building Place clinches I st place The Orono Building Place Bantam Leafs took on Darlington Auto at Darlington Arena March 10 in the end hav- ing to seule for a 3-all tie. The 'Builders' pulled ahead by 2 early in the first--D'erek Heerschop and Mark Brennan scoring with assists to Kyle Moore and Brad Wood. Darlington closed out the peri- od with a goal of their own. The game played on without a goal tili the third when the opposition pulled even. Building Place went ahead 3-2 a minute later with Sean Pudlis finding the mark and John Halik and Derek Heerschop assisting. The lead was short- lived as Darlington slapped in a hard drive tying the game at 3. Notable mention: There was 1 penalty served in the entire game and goaltender Ashley Getz smnothered the puck after a Darlington breakaway. National Power Skating tykes deflate J & M' Tire The National Power Skating major fykes won their final sea- son game 4-2 over J&M Tire last Saturday in Bowmanville. The 'Tire Team' opened the scoring at 7:30 but then ran smack into the 'Power Skating' squad in full stride. Brock Dunham tied the gamne at 6:.04 popping in a goal with Jeffery Mulder assisting. Tommy Meester drove home Orono's second at 3: 10 from Matthew Dobson. Grace Williamson was dynamite along the boards in an end-to-end period. The second period rumbled by scoreless. The third period packed in, three goals; two by the 'Power Skaters' and one by Bowmanville. Rob Blaker. scored at 14:41 from Nathan Smith, to put Orono ahead by two and on the next shift Alex Campney broke up a Bowmanville breakaway. Bowmanville drew a penalty at 4:01, but Orono couldn't con- nect uiltil 1:26 when Brock- Dunhamn scored his second of the gaine, slipping home an empty-netter from Campney. Bowmanville replied at 0:23 with a breakaway goal to finish the scoring. Final shots were Orono 21 - Bowmnanville 8. The 'power skaters' also played two exhibition games on the weekend post a 3-3 tie with an Oshawa teamn on Friday night and a 5-1 win over Grafton on Sunday niight. Congratulations team! Alas, it was too late for Orono as they accepted defeat 4- 1. Orono wins squeaker Apple Blossom played host to Oshawa in exhibition play Sunday night at Orono Arena. The game was close and fast- paced. Troy Webster was Orono's stellar netmninder. On "D", Jessie Rice, Kyle Balson, Scott Henderson, Mark Franko and Gregg Howe played an excellent game. The gamne's first goal was scored by Paul Bridger with a pass from Robyn Henderson up to Kyle Balson. Daniel Hodgson and Mike Hicks kept the Oshawa players at bay, while Andrew Kirkbride made his way up the ice for an unas- sisted goal. With a perfect pass fromn Lucas Leechi, Heather Maitland took the puck up the ice on a breakaway but was stoned by the Oshawa goal- tender. Paul Bridger scored the last Orono goal with Ben McKelvie. Orono thought they had a shutout once again, but with two minutes l'eft in the gamne Oshawa scored two quick goals on Webster but Orono's. lead held up for a 3-2 win.
