Wednesday, June 3, 2009 Orono Weekly Times - 9 Poet to visit Kirby KIRBY -- Poet Jeramy Dodds, an Orono native and nominee for the Griffin Poetry Prize, will be at Kirby Centennial School on June 8th for a poetry reading. The reading will take place in the school gymnasium from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. The hour will include a brief talk by Dodds on how he came to write poetry, and will include a question period, according to Judy Malfara, Communications Officer with the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board. Dodds will also receive recognition from the Mayor's office during this presentation. Admission for this event is free, supported by Kirby Centennial School Council. The day included many activities, such as the pudding drop, whipped cream throw, tug-o-war and many more. Students were entertained with live music as they fought to earn the remaining points for their house. The reward was a trip Canada's Wonderland, which was awarded to Hulk House.
