Joy passed away peacefully on Wednesday March 24, 2010 in Parry Sound, Ontario. Joy is survived by her husband Midford and children Maureen [Doug] and Reg [Donna]; her brother, Roy Stinson, predeceased her. Joy was born in Etobicoke [Toronto] in 1927, one of two children of Brayton Emerson Stinson and Elizabeth Jane Glanville. As a child, she moved to northern Ontario with her family in the midst of the Depression. Thereafter, Mom spent most of her life in the Parry Sound and North Bay areas. She worked as a legal secretary and met Dad in Parry Sound, marrying in 1951 and moving to Toronto. They lived in various areas around Ontario, but returned to Parry Sound when Dad retired. She and Dad travelled extensively as they were Challenge (the highest level) Square Dancers; they enjoyed dancing with people all over North America - from the kids at M.I.T. to groups in California and Florida. She enjoyed many summers on Idletime Island in Georgian Bay and, later, winters in Florida. Mom was well known for her love of gardening, animals, and most particularly, her beloved cats. She had a flair for gardening and was a gifted seamstress; she loved the Christmas season above all, and had formal dinner parties that delighted everyone. She will be forever remembered and loved by her family and missed even more. Our very grateful thanks to the dedicated medical staff of the West Parry Sound Health Centre for all their care of our Mom - you were wonderful and we truly appreciate it. At Joy's request, only a private family service will be held. If desired, donations to the West Parry Sound Health Centre Foundation would be appreciated.
