Orono earned wins against CYO 3-1 and Millbrook 4-2. They lost a close one to Woodville 4-3 and were blown away by Brock 11-2. They then rebounded somewhat and skated to a 2-2 tie with Omemee. Dennis, assistants Bernie Kirck and Jeff Zeus, trainer Darin Cordes and manager Janine deBoer. The team will play Manvers this Friday at 9pm. Novice Leafs leap to 3 and 0 start by Ted Martin The Orono Novice Leafs played two games on the Thanksgiving weekend, earning a 5-2 win followed the next day by a 4-0 shut out. Cole Hardy provided the stellar goaltending while Kyle Legace led the offence with a pair of goals in each game. Other goal scorers included Brandon Adams with a pair and Cody Luciano, Ben LeClair, and Brett Diamond with singles. Diamond, Ben Stephenson, Ethan Subotich and Jerrett Whyte also aided with pair of assists. The Leafs showed no sign of rust from summer break and expectations are high, as always, for both Orono and the Leafs. This past weekend the Leafs faced off with Clarington 4 and shut them out with the strong goaltending of Kaiden Whaley. It was a tight first period but just over half way Ethan Subotich put up the first marker on an assist from Jack Kuijpers. The Leafs broke out in the second with goals from Brandon Adams, McKinley Martin and Ben LeClair assisted by Calum Wiggums. They closed out the game with a strong third period. Brett Diamond added a pair of goals to his assist in the second. The final goal was a battle won by Cameron Coe as he was sliding toward the net. Charlie Kelly was rewarded with the assist after his strong play all game.
