Canon Farncomb was a son of the late Frederick Farncomb, collector of Customs at Newcastle, and Jane (Robson) Farncomb. Farncomb. He was boro in Newcastle in 1856. He was ordained a deacon in 1879 and a priest in 1880. He was located success ively at Batteau, Lakefield, Newmarket, and Newcastle. Since 1901 he occupied the position of rector at St. Mathew's, Riv erdale. He was made a cannon of St. Alban's Alban's Cathedral in 1890, was rural dean of West York and a delegate to the Synod.
