NESTLETON CAESAREA NesUetoo United Church Women The U.C.W. met at North Nestleton Church April U, 8:00 p.m. president Mrs. Mabel Cawker extended a warm welcome and opened with a hymn followed by a poem entitled "my Purpose". An effectgive worship service was prepared by Mrs. Leona Sadler. Scripture Scripture was read taken from St. Mark. Hymn "Christ the Lord-is risen to-day" was sung. The members were delighted to have Claire MacKenzie who is eleven years old, present her speech entitled "I've just turned eleven years old", which she gave in the Public speaking contest placing 1st at Blackstock Public School, Grades 5 and 6, and later placing 2nd in the Legion contest in Port Perry. Claire is a fine little speaker with plenty of expression and speaks out well. Needless to say, the members of the U.C.W. thoroughly enjoyed Clare's talk. Roll Call-Happiness is brought forth many interesting interesting answers. Sec'y Mrs. Helen Vine read the minutes and correspondence and cards were signed for the ill. A splendid account of Oshawa Presbyterial held March 18, in Centennial United Church was given by Mrs. Gwen Malcolm. Miss Gail Malcolm attended the Bay of Quinte Conference held April 7, at Mark St. United Church, Peterborough, Peterborough, and found it a stimulating experience. Her report was excellent. Mrs. Jean Williams prepared prepared an interesting Easter programme. Those assisting. were Mrs. Leona Sadler and Mrs. Mabel Cawker. Miss Gail Malcolm sang a solo "In the Garden" and many favourite Easter hymns were sung closing with "The old Rugged Cross". A contest contest conducted by the President was won by Mrs. Ruby Parsons. Business Ladies' decided not to have the Spring Supper this year. Instead- plans are to have a table at the Flea Market in June. Members are reminded reminded to save used stomps for Leprosy missionary project to be turned in to Mrs. Marg. France. An invitation was received to attend Columbus United Church Bazaar to be held Wed. May 6 at 1.30 p.m. The U.C.W. are asked to bring items of clothing etc. for a bale and articles may be left in the church. A decision was made to sell the remainder of the recipes at the Flea Market. Meeting closed and an enjoyable half hour was spent having refreshments and socializing, Mrs. Jean Williams group in charge of the tea. Mrs. Helen Vine thanked those responsible for the meeting etc. A cordial welcome to all for the May meeting to be held at the home of Mrs. Ruby Parsons, Blackstock, Mrs. Gwen Malcolm's Unit in charge. A special feature of interest will be a White Elephant sale. Nestleton United Church A fair attendance on Sunday morning for the worship service. Rev. Victor Parsons chose as his sermon theme "As A Stranger" taken from Scripture Hebrews 2:1-10 and Luke 24 :13-35. In the choir Mrs. Bernice Mairs and Mrs. Mabel Cawker sang a duet "Whispering Hope" an old time favourite. On May 10, Christian Family Sunday, the Sacrament Sacrament of Baptism will be administered at Nestleton. Parents are asked to contact the minister as early as possible if wishing to have children baptized. A bale of good used clothing clothing will be packed by the U.C.W. and articles may be left in the Sunday School room.
