She has accepted a position in the biochemistry department in Etobicoke General Hospital. School Bd. Briefs Hampton Junior Public School will be fitted with energy-saving equipment as the result of an $11,600 grant from the Ministry of Education. Education. The energy retro-fit project at the Hampton school will cost an estimated $5,000 and require 130 man-hours. It includes the installation and purchase of aluminum storm and screened windows over existing windows on the north side of the school as well as repair of existing wood sash and hardware. A second school designated for an energy retro-fit is located located in Roseneath. School trustees will meet December 2 for their inaugural inaugural session, members of the Northumberland and Newcastle Newcastle Board of Education decided last week. The purpose of that meeting will be to elect a chairman and vice-chairman and to organize committees. The regular meeting scheduled for Thursday, Thursday, December 23, will be cancelled. A donation of $25 to encourage encourage students to participate in the Port Hope Science Fair was accepted last week by the Northumberland and Newcastle Newcastle Board of Education. The funds have been provided provided by the local Chemical Institute Institute of Canada and will be used to assist in the purchase of buttons or ribbons for each elementary student who submits submits an entry to the Port Hope Science fair next spring. The future of three elementary elementary schools with declining enrollments is scheduled to be decided at the regular meeting meeting of the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education on October 28. Recommendations from the board's administrative council council on the future of Kendal, Cook's, and Maple Grove East Schools will be submitted to that meeting. The final decision of the school board will follow public meetings in each of the three schools which face closure in 1983. Seven high schools in the Northumberland and Newcastle Newcastle school system have been selected for a study on alcohol and drug use by students. The.research will be undertaken by the Addiction Research Foundation, Participating schools include Bowmanville High School, Clarke High School, Courtice Secondary School and four other secondary schools in the jurisdiction of the Northumberland and Newcastle Board, Students in grade 11 and a few students at the grade nine level will participate in the survey, said Director of Education Education Douglas Sifton in u report, The study has been sanctioned by the board of education.
