Income Tax and Related Accounting Services 118 King St. E., Suite 2 Bowmanville, Ontario L1C1N4 Trustees Reject Late Immersion French Classes By Peter Parrott Public school trustees have defeated a plan to expand French immersion programs in order to allow late immersion immersion classes commencing at grade 5. The program proposed by the Northumberland and Newcastle Board of Education's Education's curriculum committee would have given students 50 per cent of their daily instruction instruction in French. Curriculum committee chairman Elizabeth Parken said the purpose of late immersion is to provide an alternative to the existing immersion program, not to replace it. However, the proposal for late immersion was defeated by a vote of 6 - 8. Added cost of the program was one reason cited by trustees for not supporting the project: "I'm sure that it's going to cost us money and I wonder if we can afford it now, said Ward Three trustee Bill Carman. He also suggested that the late program would detract from enrollment in the early immersion classes already underway. Hl-Boy Dog Chews.
