I Feeder Prices Durham Student from Pontypool Wins Award Strong at Peterborough Sale The Northern Feeder Sales continue with strong prices at the first of this year's Peterborough Peterborough County Cattlemen's Fall Sales which was held with a record number of yearlings offered by local cattlemen. Nearly 1600 yearlings were purchased by buyers and feeders from across Ontario. Prices were: - Steers 600 - 800 lbs.: 80 - 84 one-half cent with top of 86 cents for 7 Charolais crossbreds averaging 765 lbs. 800 lbs. & over: 77 - 82 cents with a high of 84.3 cents for 29 Charolais crossbreds averaging averaging 805 lbs. Heifers 600 - 800 lbs. : 70 - 74 cents with top of 75 one-quarter cents for 10 Charolais crossbreds averaging averaging 688 lbs. 800 lbs. and over: 70 - 73 with a top.of 75 for 15 Charolais crossbreds averaging averaging 825 lbs. The prices stayed strong with active bidding throughout throughout the sale. Buyers were impressed with the quality of the farm fresh cattle. Peterborough Peterborough County Cattlemen hold their next sale on Wednesday, Wednesday, November 3rd, when approximately 1600 farm fresh calves will be offered. Then the final Northern, Feeder Sale will be on Monday, Monday, November 22nd at 1:00 p.m. when the Eastern Ontario Stocker and Feeder Sales Association expects 1000 head. Canada Packers has made a $400 award available to Durham College for presentation to an undergraduate of the three-year Business Administration Computer Data Processing course. The award is for a student who has demonstrated leadership ability, as well as for obtaining high academic standing in the second year, and who is continuing in the program. This year the award has been given to Jo-Anne Finney of Pontypool, who is entering year three of the Data Processing option in Business Administration. The award was made at the College on Tuesday, October 26, by Phil Renouf, left, Corporate Recruiting Administrator for Canada Packers Inc. Mr. Renouf is also President of the University and College Placement Association of Canada. At right is Don Hargest, Dept. Head for the Business Administration program.
