Meeting On Thursday noon hour, November 18th, Shiloh U.C.W. met at the Canadian Legion Hall, Port Hope to enjoy a delicious smorgasbord dinner. This was our annual Christmas Christmas dinner and 23 ladies sat down to eat. This was a super meal and much enjoyed by everyone. We had all grouped together to go down to Port Hope by cars, so following dinner, the ladies drove to the home of Mrs. Ruth Robinson for our meeting. Our President Mrs. Ruth Andrews opened the meeting by reading a poem "A Fallen Leaf" written by our minister Rev. Aubrey Tizzard. This was most appropriate to the season. The devotional was given by Mrs. Edna Dobson who gave a talk on "Time". "Happy Birthday" was sung to Gloria Todd, Isabelle Trim, Jenny Rypstra, Dawn Brettell and Mary-Lou Fonk. It was decided that for our good deed at Christmas, we would go to the South Haven Nursing Home in Newcastle to.' entertain the residents... The date chosen was Tuesday afternoon, December 7th. We would also take along a lunch of sandwiches, tea and coffee for the patients. A donation was received to purchase the drinks for this afternoon and it was greatly appreciated. For our Christmas meeting, we have been invited to the home of Mrs. Mary Traicus. This will' be on Wednesday afternoon December 15th. An exchange of gifts amongst the members will also take place. Mrs. Dorothy Trim brought along the quilt blocks which had been given to us. It was decided that Dorothy with Mary-Lou Fonk would assemble these blocks into a quilt top. It would then, be quilted by the members. The meeting closed with the Mizpah benediction. Ruth Andrews conducted an excellent excellent contest which was won by Suzanne Westheuser and Dianne Rypstra. A dainty lunch of cookies, tarts and squares was served by the hostess Ruth Robinson and à social time was held. Ruth Andrews thanked, our hostess for having, the-mt-cTmÿ at her home. \ Blackstock < Congratulations and best ' wishes go to one of our local young ladies, Cheryl Graham who is opening her office as a Reflexologist in Port Perry this week.
