Mrs. Bea Jones was an overnight guest on Saturday with her daughter Mrs. Carmen Cornish of Orono. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Massie of Port Hope were dinner guests on Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Farrow. Mrs. Janet Paeden was a supper guest on Tuesday with Mrs. Bea Jones and Mrs. Ona Carlaw of Warkworth who was also - visiting Bea for a few days. The progressive euchre party held in the Hall Friday evening with the following results of seven tables. The 50 - 50 draw was Edith Gordon. The ladie's prizes were won by Mrs. Wm. Milligan and Pearl Clark. The men's were J. Moffat and Berneice Milligan (on a man card). Draws to Lena Clysdale and Olive Henderson. Next card party and the last for this year will be December 17th. Thanks to all who helped make the Bake Sale a success raising nearly $80.00, on Friday evening at the Auction Bam. Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Farrow were among those attending the Palestine Chapter Christmas Christmas Party in Bowmanville on Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Beatty and Mr. Scott Nelson of Cobourg were dinner guests on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Reid Wood. Several attended . the Festival Singers Variety Concert from Oshawa at Newcastle Community Hall on Sunday afternoon. ( Mrs. Marion Gibson and Linda Hofstede of Bowmanville Bowmanville visited Mrs. Isabel Watters and Raymond Bruce on Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Wm. Milligan and Berneice and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Boughen were among those who attended the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Greenwood Greenwood at Kirby School Saturday Saturday evening. Mrs. Bea Jones visited Mrs. A. Hoskin in Cobourg Hospital on Friday. Church service greeters were Ray and Doris Tompkins. The church was decorated in the Christmas theme and the tree was trimmed by Carole Gardner. Each Sunday school pupil was given an ornament to be placed on the tree. At the altar were four poinsettia plants, two placed there by the family in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stapleton. The choir sang "Away in a Manger". The sermon was entitled "His Name". The ' lighting of Advent Candle no. 2 was presented by Mr. and Mrs. Ray Stapleton, Jackie and Jeff. Last Sunday the presentation presentation was performed by Marlene Stacey and Beverley and Sandra Mclnnes and Shaunna. There will be a Christmas Eve service at the church on Friday, Dec. 24th beginning at 7.30. The Women's Institute will meet at 12.30 beginning with a pot luck luncheon at the home of Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding at Newcastle on December 15th. and another pot luck dinner for the U.C.W. in the evening at 6.45 with Marlene Stacey's group in charge. Each meeting meeting will have an exchange of a $2.00 gift. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wood, and Mr. Floyd Wood and Miss Leslie Mohum of Oshawa were callers in the afternoon on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Reid Wood. Mrs. Florence McLeod of Oshawa spent last week with Mr. Raymond Bruce and Mrs. Isabel Watters. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tompkins and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Henderson were among those who attended the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto on Sunday for the musical show featuring Mr. Kenny Rodgers and other singers. wwewewmiwsttgsk!
