Last Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Harold McLaughlin hosted a McLàughlin family gathering in honour of Roy and Harold's birthdays. Congratulations. Sorry to report, that Mrs. Harold Hamilton is presently in Toronto Western Hospital. Mrs. R. Whitfield has returned returned from Port Perry Hospital to the home of her daughter Mr. and Mrs. Harry Degeér. NESTLETON CAESAREA by Mabel G. Cawker Nestleton Women's Institute Christmas Meeting The Nestleton Branch met in the Community Centre on Wed. Dec. 1st, 12:30 p.m. for a pot luck luncheon. After the W.I. Grace was sung, the members enjoyed the delicious casserole - topped off with desserts, tea and coffee coffee to end a perfect meal. Pres. Mrs. L. Malcolm opened opened the meeting at 1:30 p.m. in regular form and a cordial welcome to 18 members, followed by a poem on ' Christmas. Mrs. R, Davison was the pianist. Sec.-Treas. Mrs. R. France read the minutes, correspondence, correspondence, and a splendid report re- finances. A letter was received to do With the Hospital Bake Sale, Dec. 10th at 12:30 p.m. Items are to be at the hospital by 12 o'clock. Members answered the roll call with an heirloom telling how they had inherited them. Mrs. R. France presented the branch with a beautiful Women's Institute plate and this was placed in the showcase at the Centre. She was thanked by the president. A donation was given to- Operation Scugog to be used for Christmas Cheer for the , needy folks. v Christmas carols were sung with Mrs. L. Malcolm playing and daughter Gail leading the singing. Mrs. J. Wygerde reported on the Summary Day "Foods for all Seasons" held at Orono recently and a display of kitchen metrics re- the course was of interest and most informative, prepared by Barbara Weir. Mrs. H. McLaughlin, convenor convenor of Family and Consumer Consumer Affairs was in charge of the programme. She spoke on the motto - "Send a thought- before you spend a penny." Mrs. D. Frew, Nestleton delegate to the Central Ontario Ontario Area Convention held at the Royal York Hotel in Toronto, gave in indepth report of the 80th convention proceedings. Mrs. McLaughlin gave some pointers on how to preserve leather and suede. The meeting closed with more carols and O Canada. Mrs. D. Frew voiced the appreciation to all. Pres. Mrs. L. Malcolm offered "best wishes" for a happy holiday season. Jan. and Feb. are holiday months. Next meeting will be held in t March. i Caesarea Euchre With a goodly number on hand for the Wed. evening card party sponsored by the ladies' auxiliary the prize winners were: 1st prize- Brenda Thistel and Rene Wheeler tied with 82. 2nd prize- Tim Heayn with 79. Low- Evva Davidge with 42. Refreshments were served .. and sociability enjoyed. Another evening of fun is in store for you next Wed. evening evening as usual- at the Centre-8 p.m. Family News David and Leah Frew, Dwayne, Andrew and Richard of Nestleton "hosted" Christmas dinner for Leah's family- the Lome McKee descendants- on Sunday Sunday Dec. 5th, with almost 30 relatives present for the occasion. Glad to report Mr. Stanley Malcolm of Port Perry, arrived arrived in Brandon, Florida, after a good flight. "Warmest Wishes" to Stan for a fine, healthful winter in the sunny south from area friends. Mrs. Jean Williams, Nestleton, and Mrs, Phyllis Fall is, Bowmanville, went by plane for a ten day visit in Edmonton, Edmonton, with Jean's daughter, Janice Williams. They enjoyed the trip and were quite busy with activities activities while in the West. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Cawker of Scarborough, spent Saturday Saturday visiting at the Cawker Farm, Scugog Point Road. Get Well Wishes Friends and neighbours are sorry to hear that Mr. James Long of Nestleton, underwent surgery this a.m. in Oehawa General Hospital. We trust he Is doing well and will be home before he knows It.
