We applaud Donald's endeavours and congratulate him for participating in this event. On Saturday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs, Jack Crago visited with Mr. and Mrs. Peter Irvine, Michael and Steven, Whitby.' On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. David Foote, Lindsay and Adam visited his father who is a patient in Sunnybrook Hospital. On Sunday afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Crago enjoyed dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Coulter, Kevin and Keith, Campbellville. Mrs. Dorothy Stark, New- tonville, was a Tuesday luncheon luncheon guest of Mrs. Kathleen Kimball. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Skelding, Mr ; and Mrs. Frank Stapleton and family, all of Newtonville, were Sunday evening dinner guests of Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding. Members of Durham Masonic Lodge attended the Church Parade at Welcome Welcome United Church on Sunday and enjoyed luncheon after at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Inch. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Firth, Bowmanville, and granddaughter, granddaughter, Caitlin Fear, of Toronto were Saturday callers at the Jack Crago's. Last Monday Mrs. Ellen Duxbury entertained the ladies of the Euchre Club. Mrs. Jack Skelding and daughter Jackie, Port Perry, visited on Saturday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Lake and with her mother-in- law, Mrs. Elizabeth Skelding. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gordon, Gordon, Port Hope, were Wednesday Wednesday callers at Mrs. Kathleen Kimball's. Mr. and Mrs. Hary Wade were in Barrie on Tuesday, where Harry attended the Home Building Meeting and they visited Mrs. Mary Wade. His Newcastle friends will be happy to hear Ray Goode is now enjoying good health after surgery in hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Goode visited with their daughter and husband, Susan and Mike Cawker, Port Hope, on the weekend. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wood, Oshawa, were afternoon visitors with his mother, Mrs. Gladys Wood. Mr. and Mrs. George Felgate arid Pamela, Unionville, were supper guests of her mother. In the evening, Mr. arid Mrs. Reid Wood, Newtonville, and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Wood, Orono, visited Mrs. Gladys Wood. Mr. and Mrs. Tracy Embley, Cobourg, and his mother, Mrs. Reta Embley, enjoyed visiting Mrs. Elsie Manes in Toronto last Wednesday! They also attended the Ontario Numismatic Convention Convention and dinner at Rockhaven Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Walton and Adam, Brampton, were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pearce. They visited friends and relatives in the village while here. Newcastle Senior Citizens meet on Thursday evening, April 21st, in the auditorium of the Newcastle Community Hall. A program has been planned for this meeting with a group of Oshawa ladies, Sweet Charity, providing songs and guest speaker Harvey Graham of Blackstock will show slides on Africa. President Albert Pearce looks forward to a good turnout. Baptist Church News Easter Sunday was a day of Blessing at the Newcastle Baptist Church. At the 11 a.m. service, Mrs. Winnie Bagg from the Meadowcrest Baptist Church in Brooklin, was the guest soloist. Her gospel messages in song, gave a real meaning to the Easter story. The 7 p.m. service was well attended and all enjoyed the film, Not Even Death, a message which gave comfort and assurance of eternal life for the future. On Sunday, April 17, the congregation of Newcastle Baptist Church was thrilled to hear Mrs. Alma Kingyens present three gospel messages in music and song. Also, it was a heart-warming experience to hear Mrs. Kingyens' personal personal testimony in how the Lord Jesus is now to her a daily comfort and help. Mrs. Kingyens was a former country country and western singer in the night club circuit. April 24 is the monthly Mission Sunday. Rev. and Mrs. Lionel Green, representing representing the Sudan Interior Mission Mission will speak at the 10 a.m. Sunday School and 11 a.m. Worship Service. In the evening at the 7 p.m. Gospel Service, they will also speak and show a missionary film. Mrs. Green is a former missionary to Bolivia and specializes in children's work. United Church News Youth Sunday was observed at Newcastle United Church on Sunday, April 17. Greeters at the door were Johnna Chard and cousin Donnie Chard. Ushers were Carol Dawson, Joanne Lake, Dennis Roger- son and Frank Miller. The Scripture, the Parable of the Sower was read by Jayne Noble. Cameron Langstaff read the lesson from the Epistle, 2 Timothy 2, verses 1 - 7. A Loyal Soldier of Christ Jesus. Rev Donald Stiles led in a panel discussion with Cheryl St. Pierre, Patricia Verbeek and Murray Jose answering the question, What is the Church for? Children's pyramid boxes are to be returned.
