Former Toronto Maple Leaf players, Norm Oilman and Mike Pelyk played solid games against us. Norm Oilman had three goals. The Toronto Italians have been persuaded by our manager, Mike Kalynko to come and play a benefit game here in Bowmanville next year. This fine team went on to win the "A" championship of the weekend tournament. On Saturday, we met the Simcoe County team and Art Hester played a solid game in the Bowmanville goal to defeat defeat them 4 - 3. Two Bowmanville Bowmanville goals were scored by George Sainsbury, assisted, on the first by Ron Rushak and Bob Skene, and on the second by Bob Marjerrison. Bob Deblois was sent in on a breakaway breakaway on a pretty pass up the middle from Siegi Rohr. Bob pulled the goaltender and skid the puck into the open net. Bob Marjerrison scored the third Bowmanville goal, assisted by George Sainsbury and Ron Rushak. The line of Grant Wright, Bob Hellam and Bob Sheridan put on a tenacious checking display to hold the Simcoe team in their own end for every shift on the ice. In the final "C" championship championship game we defeated Omemee by a score of 4 - 1. After dominating the play for 15 minutes, Bob Marjerrison finally opened the scoring with end to end solo rush, splitting the defense and driving ihe puck under the erstwhile unbeatable unbeatable Omemee goaltender. Ray Crombie drew an assist on Bob's goal, Dave Green made the score 2 - 0 on a pass from Irv Gill. Ray Crombie then scored the clincher on a hard drive along the ice from the blueline after taking the pass from Bob Marjerrison. With only 28 seconds left in the game, Gary Lywood of Omemee broke Grant Wright's shut-out as Jim Olinski was pushed out of the play as he tried to catch his opponent. Omemee then pulled their goaltender. Siegi Rohr outfought a defender along the boards for the puck and fed it to Bob Sheridan, who then hit Bob Deblois with a perfect pass at the Omemee blueline. Bob drove a hard shot into the open net to finish the scoring and conclude our season on a victorious note.
