Adrienne is the granddaughter granddaughter of Ann and David Park (and the late Helen). The Visual Arts Centre is pleased to introduce as this year's Artist in Residence, Mr. John Inglis, Acting Chairman, Fine Arts Department, Department, Ontario College of Art, Toronto. Mr. Inglis graduated from OCA drawing and painting painting in 1952 and has taught and exhibited his work widely. A "Fellow" of the international Institute of Arts and Letters, president of the Canadian Society of Graphic Art in 1963, he was elected to the Council of O.C.A. in 1970 - 71. Mr. Inglis has taught Fine Arts with various groups including the Port Credit Art Group,. Haliburton School of Art, Art Gallery of Ontario and Peterborough Peterborough Teachers College. As co-ordinator of the Ontario College of Art, off-campus studies, Mr. Inglis organized the off campus program in Florence, Italy for two years. Employment Conditions The number of clients unemployed unemployed and registered for work at the Canada Employment Employment Centres in Ajax, Whitby and Oshawa for the month of April totalled 19,051, consisting consisting of 7,848 female and 11,203 male clients. Placements in the three offices totalled 704 for the month, which compares to a total of 386 placements during March. The majority of clients were registered in Clerical and related; Sales, Service; Product Fabricating, Assembling Assembling and Repairing; Construction Construction Trades; Material- Handling and Related. At the end of April, there were 213 students in the skill courses sponsored ■ by the Canada Employment Centre The Bethany U.C.W. held their meeting on Monday, May 2nd, at 8 p.m. in the church hall. The president, Mrs. Ray Porteous, welcomed all and read a verse, "The Gift of Friends". Mrs. John Neals thanked the U.C.W. for providing a beverage beverage at the recent Sunday School's Family Fun Night and thanks went to Mrs. Nelly Michel for all her help. The president gave a report of the West Area Spring Rally held at Pontypool on Monday, May 2nd. Thirty-six ladies were in attendance which was a disappointing turnout. The theme was, "Peace In Our Time" with guest speaker being Mrs. Evelyn Locke, wife of the minister of the Spring- ville - Balieboro charge. The worship opened with prayer under the direction of Mrs. Frank Edwards, program program convenor for group 2. The hymn, "The Lord is My Shepherd" was sung and then Mrs. Harold White read the Korean version of the 23rd psalm, written after the Korean War. Mrs. Edwards read "The Meaning of Life" prepared by Mrs. Mary Capel, the hymn, "This is my Father's World" was sung and the offering was received by Mrs. Wes McMahon. The worship worship closed with prayer. The theme of the program was "Foster Mothering". Mrs. Edwards opened with a reading "Somewhere the Child". Mrs. Wes McMahon spoke on the young Korean boy the Bethany and Pontypool Pontypool U.C.W. sponsor. Mrs.' Margaret Weatherilt spoke of their foster children, sponsored sponsored through "Compassion of Canada." Mrs. Mary Capel has sponsored a boy from India, from age 7 - 16 and hopes to continue his higher education. Mrs. Robt. Jarvest spoke of her involvement with meal sponsorship through "Compassion" and explained the organization "Sleeping Children Around the World" which the Bethany Bible Study supports. All these programs are relatively inexpensive and do wonders for the children. Mrs. Frank Edwards concluded concluded the program by explaining the "Save the Children" program. program. The meeting closed with a benediction and a social time with refreshments was enjoyed, enjoyed, under the direction of group 2 convenor Mrs. Herb Chislett.
