Cream shortening, with sugar. Beat in eggs and almond extract. Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into creamed mixture. Mix in chips, coconut and cherries. Drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Makes about Z l k dozen cookies. Sprinkle two- thirds of above mixture in a 9 x 13 x 12" pan. 2 egg whites (beaten) 1 cup white sugar two-thirds fresh strawberries or 1 - 10 oz. pkg. of frozen berries reducing to two- thirds cup by pouring of some liquid tbsp. lemon juice cup whipping cream (whipped) Combine beaten egg whites, sugar, berries and lemon juice in à large bowl and beat on high speed to stiff peaks (10 min.) Fold in whipped cream, spoon over crumbs. Top with remaining crumbs. Freeze 6 hours or overnight. Cut into squares. Trim with whole berries. May be kept frozen for weeks if desired.
