Thursday started started out better, we almost completed our second game before the rains came and we got soaked. Sunday, June 5, we ran a club tournament. The turnout was not large but we played trebles and doubles, shuffled the teams each game and gave Francis Thompson a prize for one game winner with38 points: Helen Millson a two-game winner with 49: Pete Bathgate and Stan Mc- Murter three game winners with 48 and 45. Helen Millson had the high score of the day with her 49. Gwen Coombes counted 21 and Rena Bathgate counted 20. Each had a no win day but got a consolation prize anyway. The day was good, the bowling excellent, everyone everyone reported a good day. We are sorry to report we have lost our ace reporter for the season as Norm and Ev Smith have gone to England for the entire summer. We shall miss them as they were very ardent bowlers. We shall also miss Norm's write ups of our activities but as one person person drops out another comes to take his of her spot as you can see from the following which was written by one of our lady member, Nicks. Ladies Lawn Bowling Club Wednesday, June 8th was a beautiful sunny warm day and ideal weather for the Bowmanville Bowmanville Ladies Lawn Bowling Bowling Club to welcome a group of new lawn bowling enthusiasts, enthusiasts, who with some of our more experienced lawn bowlers bowlers came to "The Greens" to try their wings as it were. Among those attending were Grace Murdoch, Win. Bird, Marion Wiseman, Mary Ker- chas, Olive Dooley, Edith Graham, Shirley Williams. Hope Muckle, Anne Berry and Wanda Ball. After a warm welcome from our President, Marg Perris and a few technical explanations explanations about the game by Stu. Carson, games got underway about 10:30 a.m. and continued continued until noon when the Marg ladies sat down to a delicious lunch provided by club members. members. After lunch some of the ladies went out to the greens to bowl again until about 3:30 p.m. when we called it a day. We are indebted to Stu. Carson and several other members of the male membership membership for their expertise in coaching the new lawn bowlers bowlers ana giving advice regarding regarding the game. On Saturday, June 11, 1983, the Bowmanville Invitational Racing Pigeon Club held a race from Grand Mere, Quebec. There were 11 lofts shipping 119 birds.
